Hmmm my mum had a load of charts in the kitchen once. I remember two rashers being 250 calories, but then I could be remembering wrong! (so 125 in one rasher)

Ooooh that's a lot :frown:

Oh well, suppose for a special treat

(i'm trying to loose weight and so am roughly working out calories for everything I eat)

It depends on the bacon though - expensive, higher quality bacon tends to come in thicker slices, so will have more calories. However, it's usually a nicer cut too, so might be less fatty? I haven't eaten bacon for yonks though :frown: does it have a calories thing on the pack?

No, unless it's on the inside ( i haven't opened it yet)....the slices look quite thin so I reckon blissy is probably about right....

I'm only doing approximate calories though, so I'm sure it will be fine

Ummmm....bacon *goes off to make a bacon sandwich*

The important thing is not so much how many calories a slice has but how many of those come from fat...but depends on what sort of diet you are on. If its the Atkins then obviously won't matter!

But calories are a measure of energy so don't they take into account all sorts of things? Thus things that are high in fat would generally be higher in calories?

I think what I'm trying to say, forgive me if I'm wrong, is that it is better to make try and limit the intake of fat too. For example, crisps may only be 150 calories a bag but they have a high fat percentage (look at the grams of fat per 100g) and so it would be healthier to eat some snack a jacks or something which, although may have the same amount of calories per bag, have a much lower percentage fat content...it'll be easier to burn these calories. I'm no expert tho! Xxxx

Yep, this is correct - rather than counting calories I look at fat grams - try to avoid anything with more than 9g fat per 100g. I'm afraid I know for a fact that bacon is more - think it's about 20g per 100g :frown:

If you're gonna eat the bacon make sure you take the rine(sp?) off as its just pure fat.

Overall calories are what counts for weight loss, by the way, not what % are from fat.

Ruth try www.fitday.com It lets you enter in every thing u ate and adds up the calories everyday. Also tells you how many of your day's calories came from carbohydrates, protein etc. You can also put in how much exercise you did each day and how many you burned. Basically its like a virtual food diary

I realise that but surely it is healthier to eat 1500 calories from a variety of food groups that purely fat alone?

But point taken.
