Hey all,

I drink vodka on occasion, but not that often. Anyway I'm just wondering if anybody else has reached the same conclusion as me.

You can get a bottle of Vladivar Vodka for £10 - £16
You can get a bottle of Smirnoff for £15 - £20

Personally though, I have found that the cheaper one, Vladivar - has a better taste. You can even drink it straight very pleasantly. It mixes a lot (seriously) better than Smirnoff too. It's just better all round value, and potentially better quality.

Anyone else tried both of theese? What would you say is the better brand?

DO NOT try the Sainsburys Basic vodka...

I drank a bottle of it at a party once, and his place STILL smells... :yep:

Never tried the basics one, but the normal one is alright.

I prefer Tesco Value to Sainsbury's tbh. But yeah any vodka is fine with mixers, but Smirnoff is the only vodka I can drink straight without any after-effects (apart from being drunk, obviously).

Lol. Let my warnings be a lesson.

Oh, and never ever try the basics whiskey either, EVEN if you plan on mixing it...

Smirnoff is crap. Save up and get some zubrowka or wyborowa (smooth and subtle with Polish Bison grass, best with a cloudy apple juice mixer), or Russki Standart ( for clear, refined-tasting shots) instead. :yep:

I don't tend to buy vodka in this country mind. I spent last year in Russia buying it for £3 quid a large bottle, and it still feels a rip-off back here.

(and No, I'm not an alkie...:o: )
