Small ones are fine, or even some higher ones if they're thick enough!
I usually keep a pair of flats in the car to change!

Not that I wear heels, but slippers are the best driving shoes ever.

Depends on the sort of heels and how practised you are in driving.

I don't drive very often so would never risk getting behind the wheel in really high, ie proper heels.

Nah - I remember just weeks before my test accidentally getting into the car having forgotten to wear flats. They were only 2" heels, but I felt so unstable the whole time. I've never done it again - if I plan on wearing heels at the destination, I take a change of shoes.

Mum drives with heals a lot and you can't notice a difference.

I'd advise you to drive with the shoes that have the thinnest sole if you are learning.

{I once wore my big airwalks during a lesson - ergh - was horrible, not very smooth.}

I sometimes drive in my heels that are.. 2.5 or 3", did when I was learning, as I'm really comfortable in them. Apparently some ADIs stipulate flat shoes though.

One thing to remember though is that certain types of footwear can void your insurance. For example flipflops.

I always drive in flats! I can't drive in heels, it doesn't feel right! I have a pair of flats which stay in my car for driving, that way I just change my shoes!
