Hiya

I have recently been playing Theme Hospital (they actually released a Vista version, so I'm using that), and it worked for ages.

Now I'm on the last level, and it freezes constantly. I can still move the mouse, alt+tab, ctrl+alt+del, etc. etc. etc., but I can't use any of the in game controls.

I've tried shutting down all other programs (MSN, Spotify, all other windows), but it's not achieving anything.

Any tips on what I could do?

What are your machines specs and how much memory do you have? What graphics card?

Is the disc scratched?

Processor- E2200 2.2Ghz dual core
Memory- 1gb RAM
Graphics- Intel G33 Express

It's a Dell Vostro computer thing.

The disc can't be scratched- I haven't taken it out or anything, so unless it scratched itself while it was in there...

Oh, and it goes black if I try and alt+tab it and then bring it back up.

(Thought I'd quote you in case you forgot about me :p:)

you mean you could.
when you start the uninstaller, it may have an option to backup your game data. if it doesnt, dont uninstall.
you will have to manually copy and paste the saved games folder, uninstall, reinstall, then copy and paste the folder back.

make sense?

Sounds like some sort of file corruption, possible scratch from within the disc drive.

May be worth uninstalling, I think their is an option to uninstall but to leave saved game data.

Oh OK...

Have you any ideas why it might be doing it? I just don't want to uninstall it and then install it again just to find out it is still having the problem?

I will uninstall it if I have to, but I'd like to explore other possible options if there are any.

reinstalling is probably the quickest thing to try first, and maybe the most likely thing to fix it.

Uninstalled it, reinstalled it...

It then promptly froze on me. However, it was when I was playing the original saved file that I had backed up, so it could be something wrong with that?

Hmm, sounds like the disc is corrupt or there are corrupt files.

Only option is to delete the saved file or move it somewhere for now. Then install it.

I hate this game. I hate my computer. I hate stupid corrupt files.

I guess I'll figure something out.
