Leaving behind debt Watch

I am currently in £300 worth of debt but am on an exchange in the UK and am going back to Australia in one month and am considering leaving it behind.

Would the debt collectors be able to find me? And do you think I would have a problem if I returned back to the UK in the future?

Slight moral dilemma.

It all depends, largely on who you owe money to.

You are scum. Just like all the Germans, French etc that come over here, get a student loan then never pay it back.

I doubt they would 'hunt you down' for the sake of £300, but they will ruin your credit rating, esp if you owe it to a bank/financial firm. which is hardly worth it for £300.

But that would be credit rating in the UK? not overseas?
Thanks !

yes, but bear in mind Banks are global entities, and lenders in Aus may well have access to your credit history from the UK.
