The Student Room Group

Have I missed out on the ''UNI'' life?

Hi,

I'm currently at leeds univeristy and I moved accomodation for personal reasons. I'm currently at an accomodation that's really quiet.

There is no life what so ever. I'm in a block with 3 girls and 1 other guy. The one other guy locks himself in his room (literally) and the girls, athough cool, keep to themselfs.

I'm really annoyed because my social life went from high to low in the space of 6 months. I now have to find a group of people to share a house with next year, how much fun is that going to be. Granted I'm not the most outgoing person ever but I am sociable. Has anyone else been though this?

My main problem is that I haven't found a group of friends that I can get close with, I know a lot of people but not well enough (hard to explain).

Man I am so p****d about this, will the lack of social life in the 1st year hurt me in the long run?

Thanks for your time :tsr:

Join a society or a club.

Is your current accomodation far from your previous accomodation? How about still going out with your mates from where you were staying before?

If that's not an option - as Inverurie Jones suggested - try societies or clubs, or what about the people on your course? Is the course quite sociable? If not, are there people who you sit with in lectures and stuff? Why don't you suggest to them to have a night out or something and see how things progress from there...

Hope things improve for you. I don't think that it will be detrimental to your other years - do you know where you are living next year yet? or who with?

Try to talk a bit to the girls and maybe the boy, you never know what may happen

You think I haven't? lol sorry no offense.

I look into joining a club then, thanks for the help. Oh btw I play basketball, didn't get into the team this year (incredably talented) but I will next year
