Thanks are you a fan of Mandark?

Well, it's this book I read a few days ago. I thought I wouldn't like it with Amis (son of Kingsley Amis btw) being a blitcon- a british neocon but it became strangely engrossing in the end. Although I had to struggle through the first 70 pages or so. Money is about a man (John Self) who lives his life with all the excesses of vice and then he loses the thing that he took most granted for: his wealth. For only then he sees the trap of capitalism and sees that it was the money that made him ill to the core; sated his nefarious appetites. This is the main premise behind it anyway. Its got a twist at the end. Very original writing style Amis junior; very real.

Heh..ok. So does it feel like a fiction, or more like a political commentary? I've never heard of Mandark, so I don't yet know if I'm a fan :p: It sounds interesting though, and it would be relevent background prep for my degree.
    Lol at 'blitcon'

Um yeah though this book is a bit lewd in some parts.

As for Blitcon, it was a term coined by the New Statesman to describe the three neocon giants of literature: Mcewan, Rushdie and Amis.

As for Mandark; he is Dexter's arch-rival in a cartoon called Dexter's Laboratory.

Good choice! I read it about a year ago. after finishing said I wouldn't want to read it again. Not because it's crap but because it was hard to sleep! I've love to read it again now, just don't have the time though!
