I tried reading some Iain Banks... The book I have is called "Consider Phloebas" or something like that...

Didn't really find it that enthralling, to be honest.

We did 'The Wasp Factory' for A2 E.Lit. It was horrid.

Demon, what got filtered from your sig? If it was 'april' or 'fool' then that was an April Fool thing on TSR.

*Invades*

Ian bank's sci-fi is really, really good! More like kinda philosophy / anti-neo-colonial moralistic rants which just happen to be set in space, but hey. He can really write and the plot twists are excellent so it stays entertaining. Not quite so keen on his literary novels, but the ones I've read have been pretty good (not read wasp factory though).

(I never noticed TSR had a literary soc)

Yeh, you're not the first to comment on the sci fi.. I might get round to it sometime.
How are you getting on with the books I lent you?

...You know this Tom, Richenda?

Welcome, Tom - feel free to sign up. Well, all that's good and well (on the subject of Iain Banks) but means nothing when you read for pure storytelling . The only person who's written books heavily immersed in philosophy that I've enjoyed was Terry Goodkind...

More nagging required . That was gentle prodding... you took it to fever pitch last time, enlisting various side-kicks :p:.

The Dresden one was perfect anti-dissertation fodder actually Absolute formulaic sub-airport-bookstore-grade-trash, but very entertaining. Ideal as fun reading.

I was bored, and browing bits of TSR I don't usually look at, and saw a post about Ian Banks, so I had to reply :^^:

The other one is a Tom-specific brand of smugness.
