putting on weight

I've been having a slightly unusual problem lately, in that I've been losing weight consistently, for no apparent reason. The only thing I can think of is that I'm not especially happy at the moment, but I've lost nearly a stone since January without dieting or doing much exercise.

I eat healthily, although recently I've been trying to drink milk and eat things like cheese because they're good for you but high in fat. The problem here is, there are some areas I'd love to tone up, especially my stomach, ready for the summer! I do ab exercises, but I've heard you have to do cardio to burn all the fat in front so that the toned muscles actually show up. I don't want to lose any more weight, otherwise I'll be too thin, so what should I do?

Ideally I'd like to develop some (lean) muscle so that I can be nice and toned, and a little bit heavier, without actually bulking up. I'd also like to put on a bit more weight around my bum, so I have better curves, without getting flabby. (Thankfully my boobs haven't disappeared! :p: )

How can I achieve this?

Thanks x

I'm already a gym member, but I just go to keep fit really.

I don't want to gain too much weight, I'd just like to be more toned, but also curvier! My mum said I'm thin, and I don't like that word!

Surely curvy comes with more fat? :/

Also, no matter how hard you try, you won't 'bulk'.

How come?

Do you realise how hard building significant muscle is for men, let alone women? (sorry if it offends any of you females, but it's true.)

thats what i was thinking

she could bulk if she lifted heavy weights etc, but then thats verging on the unattractive women body builder look. u dont want that...

I don't want to be a really scary muscle woman! I want to be sexy and feminine, thank you!

But surely there must be some way to build up bum muscles so you can have good curves without wobbling everywhere?

I've been having the same problem and talked to a nutritionist about this. He gave me a diet mainly based on carbohydrates and told me to keep on working out though perhaps go for less aerobic so that instead of burning, you're getting toned

Ok I will give it a try.

Natalie: The problem is I really like running! Does running make your curves disappear?

even with "heavy" weights, women will find it very difficult to get anywhere near what you would consider muscular. If you want to pwn your ass muscles then how about squats and deadlifts? But am i right to assume that you wont do that though, cuz free weights are intimidating and even looking at them for too long will make turn u into a hulking monster, and youll probably grow a penis too.

check out the forums www.bodybuilding.com OMG NO BUT I DONT WANT TO BE A BODYBUILDER!!!111one I JUST WANT TO GET *TONED* and *TIGHTEN UP*!!!!!1111o1nenenenoeneoneSEVEN

well, if you've got a curvy type of body then it won't make them disappear but I think it might diminish them yes...

if your "curves" are due to fat, and your diet is insufficient to maintain your bf%, then obv they will diminish as natalie said, werd. If you find yourself losing fat from running, just up the calories until you stop losing

You said you didn't do much exercise. I'd say training for a race was considerably more than most people do exercise-wise.

It's not a serious race, I just didn't want to embarrass myself! I've been doing the 5k probably about once a week, so this isn't hardcore training.

that might be why you are losing weight
are you ever hungry in between meals?
