    Hello,

A farmer has built a chicken run, with an area of 940 square meters, with each side length 2*235^(1/2). He decides to use the wall of the chicken coop as part of the fence. The basis of the chicken coop is square with a side length of 5m, how has the length of the fence changed after including a chicken coop as part of the fence.

    regards

I guess the original shape was a square, since each side has length 2 . root 235 which implies a square.

But is the new run a square or not? If it is, then the amount of fence used has just decreased by 5, i.e the 5 where the wall is used instead of the fence.

    Hello, Thank you for replying.

The chicken run is of a square shape, with each side 2 *sqrt 235 length or 30.6594m, this is the local minimum, and the exact area is 940 square meters, of the chicken run.

After some time the farmer realises that he may use the wall of the chicken coop as part of the fence. Indicate how the analysis is changed if he does do this. The basis of the chicken coop is square with a side length of 5m.

I hope this is more accurate if not send message.

    regards
