Wilson hall..?

Hey,
I recently recieved my accomodation pack, and have a question or two to any people at IC here. I live in London, but am planning to move out to halls anyway, for various reasons, eg get away.
Ideally, single shared bathroom would do me fine, ensuite is a bit too pricey, twin I'm not too sure about. However, having looked at the numbers and types of rooms present in each hall, it seems there's a good likelihood of ending up in Wilson Hall if I put single down as my preferred option, due to the hall's large size, and all its rooms being of this kind.
For some reason, this doesn't really appeal to me as much as any of the other halls, for the reasons that a) it seems like just a group of houses as opposed to a proper hall, b) it's not that close to the south ken campus and c) it's in Paddington, which is generally considered to be not a great area, and pretty rough in parts.
As such, I would really appreciate it if anyone staying or who has stayed in wilson house could confirm or destroy these prejudices which I have of the place. At the moment I'm really not sure if to put down a single room or a shared room (as this would seem to rule out Wilson). Is the area immediately around the halls a bit crap? Do the houses have communal areas? etc etc.
Any advice is gratefully recieved.

(PS yes I know there's an official accomodation thread, which I have looked through, but this is quite a specific question, and people don't tend to look at threads 6 pages deep)

Define proper hall? The house structure in Wilson is nothing like indiviudal houses or anything. All the rooms on the ground and basement levels are all along a long corridor. The only real thing the houses are used for is to group people to bathrooms and kitchens (ie. the people in house 42 use the house 42 kitchen and bathroom).

b) it's not that close to the south ken campus

Yeah thats the only real gripe. 25 min walk through Kensington Gardens. But really, once you get used to it, it really isn't a big deal.

and c) it's in Paddington, which is generally considered to be not a great area, and pretty rough in parts.

It's not a bad area at all. I feel safe walking around at night on my own. The only thing is that the road we're on, Sussex Gardens, is known for its prostitutes. However I haven't seen one yet, but I've heard them in the middle of the night getting into cat fights.

Anyway, haven't got time to go into more details, I'll reply in greater detail later.

The area is pretty good. All the shops and stuff nearby, tube nearby, oxford street a 10 walk away, the area dotted with pubs and restaurants. It really is a good place to say. I had a friend who's in UoL Halls and she was blown away by how good the area was and how nice the hall was (she lives in a tower block in Euston).

The houses each have their own kitchen, and bathrooms. There's 3 bathrooms for each house. Every two houses theres a dining room, with stereos and sofas and stuff. There's a TV room and Lounge with huge rear projection TV, all with comfy sofas and seats. There's a games room with a pool table, darts board, sofas. There's even a console room with an Xbox and assortment of games and widescreen TV. Plus we have our own sports hall (which will be the only college sports facility anywhere near south ken for the first half of next year).

I'd recommend coming to Wilson. It's not a dive, and I think it's actually one of the better halls. Defiantley don't not choose a single room because of it.

Thanks a lot for your replies, it's really useful reading them, especially coming from someone who lives there.
