I was expelled from the Monster Raving Loony Party for eccentric behaviour.
 That's brilliant.

I am not a member of any political party as of yet. I'm not sure if I will ever be, as I'm not particularly dogmatic.

Neither are most political parties. None of the main political parties in Britain has a real ideology (same goes for the US). Some are more right-leaning and some more left-leaning, but none follow any coherent ideology.

I am a registered republican. On this forum I'm known as a looney, bible bouncing, right wing, radical, fanatic.

Close. It was back when I didn't know my ass from a hole in the ground.
Yes, that's when idealism gives way to realism.

I'm a Young Green - having been born in Communism, brought up in Conservative and Labour times. They serve different social strata but are all ultimately centralising, elitist, corrupt. Fine for those who enjoy rat-races but for those of us who have a more rational approach...

Pity he's only serving one term, we need more people to laugh at around here
Point? And George always seems to have the last laugh.

I am a member of the Lib Dem party (in real life as well as on here). Still waiting for my membership card though.
They still call it a card? That's laughable. It's more like a sticker.

Does anyone know how you can get membership numbers for all the parties, including the minor ones? (as in RESPECT/Greens and BNP etc , not socialist party or loonies)

You could try the "official sources" ie contact each one and ask. They're usually happy to provide various figures if you can't find them easily.

I used to be a member of the Socialist Workers Party (I was for almost three years). Unfortunately, in their attempts to engulf the radicalised muslim population of the UK (many of whom are socially conservative) into the SWP, they have turned down the volume on other major social-justice issues of the labour movement such as womens rights and lesbian and gay rights - which I never felt particuarly comfortable with.

Now I'm in a crossroads on whether to join again, or whether to remain unattached. In the grand scheme of things obviously it doesn't matter, but I need to occupy my mind with something these days .

I did a bit of campaigning for Respect, but I never actually joined the party.

You are really unlucky! You must have found the only two people in Scotland who want the mad horse back!

Now there's an oxymoron for you.
I know one ex-SWP member and one member who said it 'pisses her off.' Not quite an absolute oxymoron.

RESPECT produced a leaflet at the last London Pride meeting, and have managed to radicalise muslim women like never before. I was very proud to see Salma Yaqoob do so fantastically well in Birmingham as a muslim woman candidate. RESPECT and Stop the War have made strides. For example, muslim women weren't allowed into some meetings. StWC involvement meant that they were allowed in, all be it screened off. Now there are totally equal meetings, with sexes split ontop different sides of the rooms (this is just in Mosques mind you, not other meetings!)

I did a bit of campaigning for Respect, but I never actually joined the party.
Whereabouts did you campaign may I ask? I campaigned in Newcastle and Hartlepool at various elections.

I'm in one of the strongest Tory areas there is, and I'll definately consider joining them if their new organization and new policies impress me.
