Help! Teeth Being Taken Out!

Ive just been told by the dentist that i have to have my two back teeth taken out because they are slightly decayed and apparantly my teeth are susceptible to decay
I had been experiencing pain for a few weeks so went to see her because i thought it was a wisdom tooth coming through so she took an x ray and told me that it was decay instead but today she rang and told me bout taking the teeth out and that she would also need to take a look at my wisdom tooth...
So turns out i was right bout the wisdom tooth, do u think she may have missed something else? Is it worth getting a second opinion before they remove my teeth? Has anyone else had anything similar done?

Thanks!

i think they wouldve definatly got the decayed teeth right. maybe she assumed you knew she would wanna look at your wisdom tooth.

dont worry about having them taken out though. i had four teeth taken out because my mouth was too crowded and it dosent hurt much...just feel a bit numb for a while. (ive alst had an operation to put gold chains in my gums to pull my adult teeth down!)< now that hurt!

I had four teeth pulled out when I was 11... it was fine except the dentist forgot to give me enough anaesthetic or whatever it is they give you to numb the pain, but apart from that - fine. And you won't miss them

dotn worry, its better than having decaying teeth

What im most annoyed about is 3 weeks before she told me this i went to see her for my 6 monthly check up and she told me they were perfectly fine and i didnt need any fillings (ive only ever had one filling). Two weeks later i get really bad pains and now she says i need the teeth out, surely she cuda spotted this sooner or given my fillings in the first appointment!

Yea i guess that makes sense, Im just sad about it really although i know its quite common place now...

I have had teeth out, its not that bad really, the injections are the worst bit, its not so much painful but rather incrediably annoying afterwards. I think you'd rather have your teeth out then keep them with decay tbh.

Hello,

I would definately go back and see her and get another X Ray done. If they are decaying, as LTT said, they will have to come out.

She's a dentist, she knows what shes talking about, a second opinion would probably say the same thing.

I'd get the treatment done before they cause you more pain.

Be brave, despite what we think, what they do is for the best!
