The TSR University Table 2005

Everyone complains about the university rankings in the league tables produced by the Times and the Guardian, so why not make our own ranking?

How it works is that everyone posts there top ten list of universities, ranked in order of best to not so best and then the universities are awarded points, starting at ten for first place down to one point for tenth place. I'll then use my trusty spreadsheet skills :p: and a spreadsheet to work out the totals and keep it updated in this first post  .

The universities should be ranked in an overall way, so you should take into account everything that matters to yourself, teaching quality, courses offered, prestige, employability, and so on, this is all about what we, students think.

So here is my ranking  , please don't give joint rankings as well, and also only universities in the UK.

Overall Top Ten (After 14 Voters)

1. Cambridge (124)
2. Oxford (122)
3. London School Of Economics And Political Science (89)

Given the fact that most people probably know nothing about any universities other than the one that they are at this whole concept is fundementally flawed.

Also I am sick of "general" league tables.

I think that the subject ones are of far more relevance.
Bah! whatever! Enough logic!

1) Oxford (10)
2) Cambridge (9)
3) UCL (8)
4) LSE (7)
5) Imperial (6)
6) Edinburgh (5)
4) Durham (4)
3) Bristol (3)
2) Manchester (2)
1) Warwick (1)

If you think that then you should produce a list that reflects that and if more peopel think the same ( I doubt it honey :p: ) then it'll reflect in the overall ranking which I'm about to add  .

you do have a great mind - after all you are going to a certain university (ranked 3rd, of course :p: ) I think you should write a book entitled '1000 ways to argue with a top university till they accept you'.

Wow Trev actually realises that there is a place above Cambridge

There is no such thing as a top then t just depends purely on the person, I personaly regard Manchester as being better than Durham, but then somebody whi is into classics would probably regard Durham higher.

How do you define best?

I personaly regard Manchester very highly becuase I have seen all sorts of stuff they have done, I think for cancer research nobody beats them outside of Oxbridge, and indeed Manchester University does run one of the finest cancer hospitals in the country.
