No, although PPH's are geared towards Theology if you're getting at "are colleges specialising in subjects"?

Are the colleges at oxford arranged according to subject, like are there specific colleges for different subjects, or is it arranged at random?

only in an extremely limited way - most colleges do most subjects, and each doesn't do a small selection, usually of the small subjects

for example if you applied to do materials then your option of college would be quite limited whilst they all do maths

They all do history, and some kind of language, as I remember.

And they all do PPE.

And law!

Most do English, except Queen's.

If the question is "do some colleges have a reputation (deserved or undeserved) for certain subjects (and a higher application rate for them)" then the answer is definitely yes -

Brasenose for law
Hertford, Magdalen, New for english
err.... Templeton for mbas?

Balliol for PPE.

well you should watch out for Lincoln in law too. We only have something like 8 students in the first year but they got 25% of all firsts awarded in this year's mods (6 firsts out of 30 awarded and the others all got high 2:1s I believe).

To be honest, we could probably get 3 or 4 colleges for every single subject. It's perhaps not worth the trouble.

(Or maybe it would be, if people would actually read the FAQ rather than just jumping in and asking us where they should apply, having done no research)
Where should I apply? I heard Templeton was an excellent place to study for an undergraduate degree?
Reply 15
I'm pretty sure you didn't. Templeton isn't for undergrads.
Jeez Louise... Don't people get irony around here?
Reply 17
If that was irony, you're Alanis Morrissette
Hmmm, well those studying at Templeton might be as uplifting as rain on your wedding day but I think you're missing the point!

Coincidentally just as I got down to the above few posts my iTunes went onto the next song which was actually Ironic (by Alanis). Ironic?

PS : And back on topic, until reading this thread I wasn't aware of any colleges having a reputation for any subject  .
