I got perfect marks in every exam I ever sat and Cambridge still rejected me...

Your signature suggests otherwise - at just under 91% UMS your AS results would have not been spectacular for a Cambridge Law applicant.

Anyway, to answer the actual question:
hobnob
Yes / no / it depends / yes.

you didnt get all A* at gcse  Youre a FAILURE!!! (jks :p: )

what do you class as perfect marks? because looking at your sig i wouldn't class those as 'perfect marks'.

Reply 23

for an interview, your grades aren't that scrutinized. mind you, out of those who applied to oxford at my school, only two got an offer and one of them had 8A*s and the other had 11A*s.

OK. bully for you.... Your Business BTEC is only equivalent to 4a* in Mickey Mouse Land tbh...

same with Cida

yeh well i went to a school which was the 27th worst in the country a year before i went? i had no choice but to take two vocational courses

im happy with my grades considering the extremely poor school i went to

not saying i wish i never went or anything btw because i loved every minute there

o and just to add... i only dropped 2-5 marks in each of my physics, maths and chemistry GCSE's but at least i dont go boasting about the ALMOST PERFECT scores i achieved in these subjects

what an ass

Top scores or not, Sulpicia is clearly more intelligent than you, jamesh.

Business BTEC = to 4 A*s, GTFO, lol.

I'm not denigrating your results. And well done for getting them in a crap school - I went to one too btw... a well below average inner city comprehensive. But to argue that a btec is equivalent to 4A* makes you look silly. Call a btec a btec and be proud of it.

Reply 28

The 2A* isn't GCSE it is from a Level2 B-TEC qualification which is equivalent to 2A*S!
no, they don't respect btecs, etc and if the only A*s you got were in them, then i don't think you've got much of a chance. you could always ring up/email and ask though.

Reply 29

I think Cambridge care less about GCSE's, instead more about excellent AS module grades. Oxford like better GCSEs and don't mind so much for AS as long as A grades are obtained.

Reply 30

er, your grades are ok, but oxford and cambridge are looking for exceptional applicants. You would need 4 As at A Level and something very special about you to get in. Don't give up, remember anything can happen. Its more luck than skill getting into these colleges.

i got 1A* 6B 2B n a C and gt in and my friend got 5As n 5Bs n got in

I'm sorry, but that's rubbish.

:ditto:
Oxford has AAA as its standard offer (so the 4A business is rubbish). Most subjects have only between 3 and 4 applicants per place (so the "very special" business is rubbish). The tutors spend a lot of effort trying to decide who to make offers to (so the "more luck than skill" bit is rubbish - though it's arguably as much the tutors' skill than the applicant's that counts).

Why not change your name to misinformation_guru ?

No-one is calling you rubbish - neither DtS nor I can comment on that - but your "advice" certainly is.

Just apply for God's sake if you want to

cambridge has a special access scheme which is specially designed for people coming with little or no uni background....does that mean these people will have more chance of getting in?

Ceteris paribus, yes they would.
