Warwick is a pretty poor, not much different than Coventry.

Speaking as a Coventry student, there's a lot of difference. They're two entirely different institutions.

i had offers from warwick and cov but chose cov in the end
im sure there are times theres rivalry like varisty but good natured

Coventry has a uni? Either way well done, you declined an offer at one of the top 10 unis in the country which has an excellent reputation for one which doesn't really compete

joannav123
Thats what i wanted to say too!!!!! it sounds so funny...why does one reject Warwick? maybe only for oxbridge...who applies to warwick and coventry also???

Barely, out of the 5 offers I did get Warwick was 4th choice for me

hahaha. i think you made right choice. anyway, there are quite a few Coventry students on our Warwick based teams and we get along fine. awesome chaps many of them. Btw plenty of Warwick students live in Coventry (albeit ive been to Cov maybe 2-3 times max - each time at night to Kasbah so i cant say much more about the locations of the student homes in relation to each other in cov itself).

I live in coventry and im starting at cov uni in september

i dont think warick students are snobs.. tbf i prbs would have gone warick if i was clever enough to get an offer!

Never heard of any arguements between the two and some courses are shared between the two unis!

Depends entirely on what you mean by "sharing" courses. It's not a consortium if that's what you meant, no.

But it's certainly not unknown for uni students to go to other uni's and make use of the facilities they have on offer (I know i've heard of Warwick students using Cov's engineering stuff).

why would warwick want to use coventry's stuff??? they have Warwick manufacturing group ...

Reply 32

I don't know, I don't even do engineering. Go found out yourself.

Cov uni really does have some good things going for it. Yeah Warwick may be more prestegious but that doesn't mean it is better in every single way. In the same way you couldn't say Cambridge>Oxford or v.v. People turn down offers from Oxbridge and for good reason to go to different unis.

Coventry has some really good links with industry and some of the people there have great experience. You might even find people in Warwick using text books written by lecturers of Cov.

Reply 33

That i agree..some unis that aren't that reputable that even rank 100+ have lecturers that are very very good....How is coventry's teaching method ?

sorry to break it to some of you , but to reinstate my point coventry is garbage and warwick is one of the best in its league.

That's a very sweeping statement and one that's not true on many counts. Coventry and Warwick are like apples and oranges; you can't universally compare them with the same metrics.

Reply 35

I disagre if you feel that coventry uni is not good at all......warwick is a university from what i know they provides the best for their students...many ppl say that Oxbridge, lse, imperial, ucl, warwick,st andrews and bristol grads are extremely precious to employers...they want these students because it is said they are learn the art of how to think! frm their unis...thats why ppl say they are precious...any opinions

What a stupid thread. I'm a Warwick student and as stated previously, believe that Warwick and Coventry are very different universities providing different courses. My cousin did his undergraduate degree at Coventry and used to be a lecturer at Warwick, he enjoyed his time at both universities, mentioning that both universities are pretty strong for engineering/manufacturing based subjects.

Avaas go spout your elitist crap elsewhere. Joannav123 why exactly did you create this thread? Do you have an offer to study at Warwick? If so forget about Coventry and focus on Warwick.

Sorry for coming across as rude, it wasn't really my intention. My point is that it doesn't really make sense to compare these two universities given that they have very different goals/aims and hence do very different subjects. Good luck with the application process, if you to know anything about Warwick let me know.

Personally - Coventry will be one of my choices this year, where as Warwick will not. Both cater for different needs. I happen to feel that Coventry will satisfy mine better.

I think its strange that this thread started with the question "how do Coventry students feel being next to Warwick University?" and now its been converted to "which is better - Warwick or Coventry?". I believe you can start another thread to query that instead of littering someone else's thread with your unwanted and clearly biased opinions. Each to his own I say, but there's no reason for people to be so hostile. Forums such as this one are supposed to assist and benefit all.
