I barely notice Warwick even exists let alone form an opinion on it.

I despise the cringeworthy rivalry both Universities try to drum up

Personally - Coventry will be one of my choices this year, where as Warwick will not. Both cater for different needs. I happen to feel that Coventry will satisfy mine better.

I think its strange that this thread started with the question "how do Coventry students feel being next to Warwick University?" and now its been converted to "which is better - Warwick or Coventry?". I believe you can start another thread to query that instead of littering someone else's thread with your unwanted and clearly biased opinions. Each to his own I say, but there's no reason for people to be so hostile. Forums such as this one are supposed to assist and benefit all.

Did anyone see those stupid youtube videos before Varsity Day?
"We're going to crush you Warwick scum"
I cant say that was really an awesome move. It was incredibly funny though..

I dont get this argument. They are completely different universities!!!

1. Coventry is more health/nat sci and engineering university, and Warwick is one of the best maths places in the country

2. Coventry is a city centre uni, Warwick is a self contained campus university, I have ran into a couple of Wawick people in Kasbah/Lava etc, as there is a bus, thats probably the only interaction we have between us (apart from varsity- ah the now infamous youtube video :-) Ive watched that about 90 times its still funny)

The only interaction ive ever mad with anyone from Warwick, is running into a couple of girls from there on a few nights out, and flying over the uni (looks nice must be said) when im doing my flying out of Coventry Airport.

There are a few around on the large student pub crawls, like Stamina and Carnage, and Varsity of course. But apart from them that there isnt that much interaction between us.

I applied to Coventry and Warwick and have offers for both come September, I came across this thread because I'm thinking of choosing Coventry over Warwick because it's a much nicer atmosphere and the staff seem to really enjoy their subject which makes it more engaging and enjoyable all round. My impression of Warwick is a much worse experience for the student almost as if they don't have to try because of their reputation. Ultimately people choose where they feel most at home.

Not really but we do meet up in groups of about 20 for rucks now and then

I got offers from Birmingham, Warwick and Coventry - I chose Coventry. I found there is much greater sense of purpose at Coventry, and did not personally connect with the other universities. Coventry is majorly concerned with sustainability, the environment and engineering advances and that stood out to me when making my decision. I don't want to go to a university where I'm simply learning formula and writing it down in tests. Coventry gives you a holistic experience to set you up for life. Through their system I have managed to become a Campaign Leader, Halls Rep, Student Councillor for my course, am now opening my own business thanks to the Entrepeneurship scheme that Coventry has (due to Sir John Egan's funding) and have landed a job placement starting in January to work inside the Student Union for the university itself. University isn't all about the degree, it's about growing up academically and as a person.

As for the actual question about being close to Warwick - Coventry is nowhere near Warwick on foot so I have never come across the other university. Even if Warwick was next door, it really doesn't matter. We're here to better ourselves and we're not against one another. Warwick university generally don't intend on intimidating other universities - that's just silly.

I find it hard to believe you even got an offer from Warwick and Birmingham if you accepted Coventry. Maybe you're saying this as you never got the offer and you're trying to make yourself feel better. Individuals work hard to get into Birmingham and especially Warwick. Don't try equalize Coventry with both Russel group universities, the difference will always prevail.
