a 2 litre bottle is £1.59 here.

how much is it in schottlant? any scots?
I could get 2 2l bottles for £1.99 in the union shop.

Only problem with irn bru is that it stains me cups orange.

identical in every way except one has sugar and one doesnt.
Umm, yes, that being the point of diet/sugar free drinks. :p:

(Original post by technik)
per 100ml
diet has 0.7 kcal of energy, no carbohydrate, protein or fat
normal has 43kcal of energy[/b], 10.5g of carbohydrate and no protein or fat.

any science buffs know how many grams of sugar it is to make that difference? is it 10.5g? (been a long time since i did biology and food type stuff in school)
Protein = 4kcal/g
Carbs/sugar = 4kcal/g
Fat = 9kcal/g

Seemingly, the (non diet) drink contains only sugars, so (almost) all of the cals must come from sugar. Nothing really needs to be calculated in this case - it tells you the difference in amt of carbs.

Sugar = 4 kcal/g
Non diet drink has 43 kcal
43/4 = 10.75g, round to 10.5g <--- the amount of carbs listed.

The difference in amt of sugar = roughly 10.5.

Since the diet version has cals, albeit neligable amounts (0.7), it seems likely that these would also come from carbs, so really it does have carbs, just such a small amount that the manufacturer is permitted to list it as having none.

0.7/4 = 0.175g of carbs.

It's strange to think of living in a place where it isn't on sale in every shop next to the cans of other soft drinks... :eek:
