I missed my college interview today!

I dont know where to post this but..
2 weeks ago I got the letter ssaying my interview was on the 11th of June but I could of sworn it was Thursday the 18th. Tonight I looked at the letter and saw that it said the 11th June. It's for carrying on my A Levels at College instead of 6th form. I've still got the open day to go to I WILL NOT MISS THAT!

What do I do about it? Shoukd I phone them up tomorrow and explain that I missed it and I'm really sorry and can we rearrange it? Or will they be like 'Were not gonna offer you a place because you didnt turn up to the interview.' I really want to transfer to college more than anything cause Im miserable in 6th form. I hope I've not ruined my chance now :frown: Any advice please!

Yeah I will tomorrow morning! :s-smilie: Im such an idiot! I was convinced it was next thursday because I even told my teacher I wouldnt be in the lesson cause of it.. and I should of been there as I was saying that!

It's difficult to say really. They might be lenient but I've heard a lot of places are quite strict and don't give you an offer. Good luck though.

Say there was a 'family emergency' and you forgot all about it, you're really sorry and could you please re-schedule?

Think of a convincing lie. Perhaps ring them up in a few days inquiring about whether you are going to have an interview for the college. When they tell you that they have already sent a letter out and you missed it you then claim that you never recieved any letter of the sort. Ok scrap that, but think of a better one.

I think the family emergency one sounds best. I applied late as it was, because I kept putting it off. So that might have been one of the last interviews. Cant believe I read it as the 17th.. and I was gonna go tomorrow to get the passport size photo done and stuff. They might just think I was lazy or something though! Or I could say I had an exam.. but they ask you to tell them in advance if you cant make it!

Depends on the college really, my college doesn't give a toss about the interviews.

Reply 10

As I said, I think it depends on them. Even if you gave them a reason they might be harsh.

As long as I can get another interview.. I can impress them the next interview. Even if I had of remembered today I wasn't prepared for it at all! This is gonna be bugging me till I get hold of them. If worse comes to worse Ill have to stay in 6th form for another year cant think of anything more depressing though!

Ah well phone call tomorrow morning and then see what happens!

Reply 13

Good luck  Can you not go anywhere else?

I phoned them in the morning and got an interview at 1.30 on Friday.. I just told them I had an interview on Thursday and couldnt make it but didnt get a chance to phone them and they were fine about it! I thought they would of been a bit more strict than that, so I was quite lucky

I missed 2 college interviews. 1st being complications between me and my family, on how I should do Media instead of Music, but I've already applied for a level 3 in music, but I ended up missing that interview. The 2nd one was because I had decided to do media, but I didn't have a portfolio to present them with. I could have used my book, but that would have given me a bad impression that I was unprepared. The college is Big Creative Education. Do you think they'll give me a chance?

Oh, and both interviews were for the same college, in case you haven't noticed.
