Help please! Translation

I left school today and had a leavers book which i got friends and teachers to write messages in. My science teacher wrote a qoute in my book but wouldnt tell me what it meant. Apparently its not a case of translating it into a different language. Just reading it outloud. I can't seem to work it out! It's probably staring me straight in the face but i don't understand it and neither can any of my friends! Can anyone help?
