Hi i'm thinking of applying to Keele to do law for 2006 entry. I would like to know everything about the law apartment, how teaching is and what is required to do a law degree (and how different it is from A level).
The law department at pretty friendly and law is one of the few schools that has it's own student support officer, the lecturers here are very good although some do have an innate ability to send you to sleep. you'll find if you do a dissertation that some of the books you read will be written by your lecturers. if you're interested in the lecturers if you go to the law department section of the website you can find out lots of info about them there.
At uni you study in a different way to A levels and in law especially you are taught differently, generally you'll have a two hour lecture once a week for each module and then a one hour seminar once a fortnight. so there is a lot of emphasis on personal study and what final mark you get depends on how much work you put in, if you work your arse of you can get a 2:1 or a first if you don't (if like me you get involved in lots of other things) you can still get a 2:2
Also what sort of offers do they make if its another AAA university then i'm stuffed, because although my A level predictions are AAB I'm more likely to achieve ABB or BBB. It seems like i'm paniking here but would it be possible to get a good 2nd class degree (eith 2.1 or 2.2) if you can't achieve AAA??
Don't worry about grades i came through clearing with pretty rubbish grades and have just got a 2:2, most of the people i know who got 1sts or 2:1 didn't necessarily get AAA and probably didn't get AAB, i'm not sure about the requirements if you apply but through clearing in my year they seemed to be very flexible.
