Primary School Hymns/Songs

Do you remember any?
They make me LOL.

There was 'Kumbaya my Lord, Kumbaya' (with the funny hand roley poley movements LOL) and there was 'Do you see what I see'
And lots and lots others, did anyone else have to sing hymns at primary school? Which do you remember? .... :ninja:

Something about butterflies... I'll see if I still have my primary school hymn book.

EDIT: It was "All Things Bright and Beautiful".

That's the only one I can remember. Though we did sing a song called "The Gospel Train", does that count?

I'm doing a placement at a school and have to sit in the assembly and sing all along with the kids and it always makes me smile when they sing the same songs that I used to!

Lol I remember Kumbaya and everyone would say cucumber becasue at the time it was funny. I also remeber 'from a tiny ant' thats it really.

'Clean hands or dirty hands, brown eyes or blue, pale cheeks or rosy cheeks, Jesus loves you!' Our priest used to sing that while he strummed the same chord on his guitar (the same chord he strummed for 7 years).

The one with all the animals and the actions like 'If I was a fuzzy wuzzy bear I'd thank my Lord for my fuzzy wuzzy hair'.

Our school song was still the best though, even though it wasn't a hymn. I remember when they tried to change it because it was 'sexist' (one of the lines used to read 'whatever house we're in Sir') and all the Y6's and half the teachers used to sing 'sir' anyway and get in trouble. And then they added an extra house which then had to be added to the song and we all just ignored it and refused to sing it!

I refused to sing most of em :P
and when i was forced I sung altered lyrics...
like there was this one called "lift your banners high" and it got changed to "lift your bananas high"

there was the one about lighting up the fire and letting jesus return :/ which got changed to "light up the fire! fart on the flame... make an explosion , do it agaiinn" and it fitted perfect :smile:

and we sang the "He's got the whole world in his hands"
and we changed it to "He's got the whole world in his pants"
then lyrics we came up with got progressively more perverted at we progressed through the school.

It was weird though, cos there were several kids of other religions like muslims and hindus and they were forced to sing it as well :s-smilie:

and most of us never really believed in god anyway :s-smilie:
