No hair

I've just taken my hair extensions out and realised that I don't actually have very much of my own hair. It's very fine and very thin. Before I got the extensions my mum said I looked like a recovering cancer victim if that gives you any idea of my hair. It's quite short, just below shoulder length but that's the longest part. The layers are really short. Is there any way I can make it more healthy and make it grow quicker and make it thicker and generally happier?

Very very upset with my stupid hair for falling out :frown:

aloe vera herbal tablets?

As i recall boots used to do a herbal tablety thing for 'nails and hair' which apparently is rreally good. (i knew a very very odd medic from Tit hall who used it!)

are you eating properly and drinking enough??? hair and nails aren't essential, so if your body is struggling to cope, they are the first to suffer... supplements are just a condensed version of the vitamins and amino acids that your body may be lacking, so you could use these whilst making sure you're getting enough nutrients... also, stay away from extensions for a while cos they stress your hair... occasionally a deep condition might help to perk it up a bit, but these problems need fixing from the inside...

Is it just general thinning or alopaecia? I'm guessing its just thinning. I know the doctor told me theres not much to be done with alopaecia.

you can buy thickening shampoo...

Have you considered applying coconut oil on your hair. Do some research on the net and check it out hun.

My fringe has been thinning due to stress and I've been using this stuff calle Foltene. It's about £20 for a bottle and you spray it on once a day and massage it in. It's good!

Get a wig.

I also take herbal hair tablets from Julian Graves and let my Mum comb my hair after washing it.....my hair was really thin and now it's quite thick and shiny. If not, try the Doctor...they'll be able to prescribe something.

i'm probably not getting enough nutrients. i used to dye it a lot and straighten it even more, so it wasn't exactly looked after. but it's *really* thin. when i took the extensions out big clumps of my own hair came out. a bit scary. i'll try herbal tablets and the hair and nail stuff.

I dyed my hair quite often and my mum won't let me anymore so it could be that too.

there's your problem... your hair won't recover much from abuse like that... stop dyeing it and use heated appliances as little as possible... eat foods with omega fatty acids in them and take multi vitamins... unfortunately, this is just going to have to grow out, maybe if you have semi permanent colour put in your hair in your natural colour it will look healthier, but get a hairdresser to give you their opinion... and take care of your hair! Y'see, this is why I think hair straightener packets should have those warnings like cigarette packets do ;_;

Straightening your hair can cause damage to unborn babies
Straightening hair causes cancer

and possibly the most worrying

Straightening your hair causes impotence.

it will get better, don't worry... its gonna take a bit of time though... make sure you get it cut regularly so the frayed ends get removed asap

Hey if you see patches of hairloss go to the docs it might be alopecia areata. thats what i have, then mine progressed to alopecia totalis, which means i lost all my head hair and eyebrows. i've been happily bald for 4 and a half years now and get so much support from online support communities.
