How old is it? If fairly new, are you doing your salt soaks? If not, maybe start them anyway to let it settle down again.

Check that your jewellery is the correct size and preferably made from titanium. If it's acrylic then definitely change it!

Have you been touching it, or are your clothes rubbing against it?

It'll be like at the beginning for a while, it's normal. Do the salt things like juno said, and use savlon spray on stuff a couple of times a day, whilst gently moving the piercing back and forth. Don't change the bar yet, it's probably a 10/12mm anyway, seeing as its a new piercing

Go to www.bmezine.com it's a fantastic site and gives you all the help and advice you could ever want about piercings!

you probably knocked it. sea salt soaks and general pampering. mine was a bitch for about 18 months (but i don't bother looking after my piercings!)

You could try tea tree oil, that was recommended to me when I had my nose done.

thankyou!! its not new, ive had it over a year now and its always been fine. will get the sea salt out again!!!!

have you tried putting a little teatree oil on it? (watererd down.) Some people don't like using it but its always worked for me

if you have had it a year its more likely that you have just knocked it a bit.
This is assuming that the bar isn't a new one which could have caused irritation.

I wouldn't recommend using savlon spray on it if it's a year old. Some people find tea tree poil to help, but it can also irritate piercings and as yours is already irritated you don't want that.

If you've changed your bar recently to a new one then change it back, and check that whatever bar you use isn't sinking into your skin or sticking out too much. And check that there isn't a line joining up the two holes.

what do you mean there isnt a line joining the holes?????

If you're thinking that, then you don't have one. If you have a line joining the holes then you'll know.

okay goody goody

does a line joining up the two holes mean it's going to reject?

i can feel my navel bar thru the skin, which is a bit icky.

how would you know if a tongue web is going to reject?

It means that it is trying to reject. You can sometimes save it. And you've got a piece of metal through your skin, of course you can feel it! As long as it doesn't seem too close to the surface then it's OK.

I don't know about tongues, sorry. Try BME
