Whooo, had my River Island interview today, and on Friday I have one at Next

So I was wondering, does anyone here work at Next? What should I expect from the interview? For R.I I didn't wear a suit, I dressed dressed fashionably smart-casual, will this do for Next as well? And do they have uniforms there?

That is all :smile:x

I have 2 mates that work at next. The uniform is compiled of products from next. I think you choose the uniform and they give you 75% off or something along those lines .

Just wear the same for River Island - I doubt they'll be picky! :p:
Good Luck!
Just wear smart casual  bussiness/ professional like

I work at Next.

Even if you dont like, I'd always dress smart, shirt and tie, it wont go amiss!

When you get there you probably wont have to wear it, but there's no harm in making a great impression at interview!

Ohh okay  I take it the uniform doesn't have to be the same every day? :P Nah silly question lol, is the 75% taken from all the purchases I'd get ever ever lol, or just at the start like? As far as you know :P
Oh no.

I worked at Next, my boyfriend worked at Next, LOADS of my friends have worked at Next. We all left pretty sharpish, hoho. This was before it became so hard to get a job though, so you're pretty lucky to have an interview.

I just wore a smart dress with plain black shoes. The uniform at my branch was a black or white smart top with tailored black trousers or skirt, though the managers seemed to wear whatever they liked. My friend's branch dropped the uniform a couple of months ago though.

You get an allowance based on your contract, and you're allowed 75% of uniform only for that allowance.

You left? Next is great! ^^

And uniform hasn't been scrapped, its just been realised that shirts and ties aren't worn to work by most people these days and so our uniform has become slightly more relaxed to reflect this.

A few of my friends work in next. It's 75% on uniform, and you get a certain amount worth you're allowed to spend depedning on how many hours you work. (Someone who works there will be able to give better details)

The rest of the time i think it's 25% off.

Good luck in your interview!!

Maybe you're lucky and don't have intolerably dim-witted managers? Also there are only so many four hour fitting room stints I could take to be honest, pacing up and down the empty fitting rooms and straightening curtains :/

The girl I know always comes into college after a shift in a vest top and cropped jeans, and I just wish we'd had such lenient uniform... mainly because I looked like an idiot in my flared tailored trousers and school shirts. Did love the lanyard though.

I think it depends what you applied for because in some application forms you have options but make sure & ask before going into it

I worked at Next for a short while and it was ridiculous!! When i got job i thought great, massive company these are going be great & well organised to work for, how i was wrong.

The interview stage was easy just go on shop floor and approach customers smiling, so they no your not shy and going be helpful.

2.) Induction process= Easy peasy watch a crappy video with 15 others.

3.) Turn up smart dressed . ( Can wear normal clothes as long as smart ie, Comfortable shoes no dangley earrings so you look formal but funky . Not like your going on night out,Don't over do it.

NOBODY who works there works over 7 hrs ( unless a manager) so you only EVER get a 30 min break . Not good when you have ran around for customers all day . Working on tills, finding items from stockroom etc.

The Permanent staff i found VERY lazy always asking us temps/mules to do there job Ie, Fetch this, fetch that, which i don't mind been helpful at peak times. But 99% of the time they were doing NOTHING but standing around.

My payroll got messed up, so didn't get paid for first 3 weeks altho temps are meant be weekly pay .
So i alerted the manager who passed the buck to another manager! All in all 4 managers on one shop floor and the always pass the buck, there is no care for staff in this company, I was very dissapointed.
You will mainly work 4 hrs a day so you are not entitled to a break and do days or public holidays normal staff cba do.
Pay is not high enough for me to get in at 10pm at night with feet stinging without so much as a thanks from any store collague.

Every Temp and perm staff Knows its :snow::snow::snow::snow: but daren't say anything as someone is always related to head office in store.

Needless to say i handing in my notice as i want more than £5.80 an hour to be every managers PA.

If i was you i wouldn't bother, you think yey Next . Then you work there an think :snow::snow::snow::snow: this job is mind numbling boring and i'm better than this.

I have an interview at Next after college today :/

My first ever interview so I'm quite scared!
They ask you to pick out an outfit,

QUESTIONS:
what do your friends think of you? why do they receive this impression?
what can you bring to river island?
why do you enjoy working in a team?
when have you exceeded a customers expectations?
when have you met a deadline and how?

DRESS: Fashionalbly smart.. stay friendly throught!!
hey guys i missed my shift today at work because of a really really important familt emergency that i found out just about 10 mins before my work shift started. I was going to call the Next line (or whatver it is called) but i couldn't as i didn't have enough credit to make the call and besides my work shift was due to start in 10 mins. The thing is i am still on my 3 month probational period (today would have been my 5th day lol) and i don't know if me not being able to report an absence would lead to a termination of my contract with them . Any help guys please? I am a stockroom assistant if it helps

I doubt that they'd actually fire you. Just make sure you apologise and explain when you go in for your next shift. Also you'll probably have to fill in a form explaining why you were absent

Hi everyone

I just got a job with Next as a stockroom assistant, start next week doing 11 hours a week.

Was just wondering how easy it is to get a lot of regular extra hours with Next?

Hope someone can help, thanks!
