Breast exams? What should breasts feel like?

Please keep anon or delete!
OK this may soud like a really random question but what are breasts supposed to feel like? Im a 21 year old female and it has suddenly dawned on me that mine might not be normal. The whole thing is like one solid movable lump with like soft tissue round the outside, is this normal? The lump is big (like the whole center of the breast) and kinda moves about a bit.
They have been like this for as long as i can remember like literally since i was 12/13 and im not dead yet so i guess its not cancer but i find it very amusing they the NHS tells us to examine our breasts but don't tell us whats normal!!!]
P.S Yes i know i should go to the doctor if im worried blah blah blah but im asking you lot first, and please be nice, im acually quite scared about this now

Anon fail, just so you know.

Breast exams - exams on breasts or exams for breasts?

But srsly that sounds slightly odd.

you should get it checked by your doctor if you're really that worried mate

You're supposed to be checking them for anything unusual. That is, abnormal FOR YOU. Everyone's are different. A lot feel lumpy most of the time anyway, or do close to your time of the month.. but they should be kinda soft lumps.. if you get me. If it was cancer it'd be hard, and wouldn't come and go.

Hope that helps!! x

I think it's normal (from my experience :hump2:smile:. But if you're worried, the best is to see a doctor

I had the same worries a few months back, but when i was flicking through the problem pages in a magazine. Someone had asked the same question as yourself and had been told that it is perfectly normal and is called the breast 'bud'...
I cannot say for certain that this is right. But it put my mind at rest.

Yes you should get the lump checked out. I can understand you are scared, but just do it for your own peace of mind. Every womens breasts feel different to a certain extent, which is why the NHS do not specify what they should feel like. For example, some are naturally lumpy whilst others are not.

Good Luck
