IB Math Studies for LSE?

Hey guys,
I wanted to ask whether you think it's possible to get into the Management course at LSE with IB Math Studies SL. I mean I am a good student, but due to extenuating circumstances and the placement of the teacher at the beginning of high school, I will be in IB Math Studies II SL next year, which is my last year in high school. Other than that I am taking History HL, Economics HL, two A1 languages, one at SL, the other at HL, and BIO SL.
Is there any possibility I could make up for this lack in advancement in math?

i guess not. although i really dont see why HL is highly recommended for management. but either way methods is required.

only option you have is to email them directyl and explain your situation.

I think Management is difficult, if not impossible, to get in with Maths Studies. I got in for Government and History with Maths Studies, and one of my friends got in for Sociology with it.

I think you should only expect to have a chance for the qualitative subjects, i.e. Govt, IR, Hist, Soc, Phil etc.

But it's not impossible. Thus there is still hope.

Are you completely sure you're not allowed to take Maths Standard as self taught? I don't know the extenuating circumstances you're referring to, but I'd imagine a Maths Higher/Standard teacher being around that could tutor you.

I'm in a similar predicament but was planning to start IB in September. I would be offered Maths SL with A level further maths, and I was told by LSE admissions that this wasnt adequate :frown: All a-levels I believe it may be for me. I specified actsci and economics though, i suppose philosophy etc. would be fine  Good luck, it isnt necessarily impossible!

But do you think that it is possible to study for the IB Math SL exam in just 1 year. Because this would mean I'd have to do IB Math Sl 1 and IB Math Sl2 in one year. OFC it's possible but I would then also need to get a 6 or something around that, while going through all the material at an enormous pace.

True... I reckon it'd be very difficult.

What about some of the other courses, don't they interest you? Some of them give you quite a lot of options to choose from, e.g. Government has 50 % free module choices in the first year.

Doing A-level Maths is an option, but seriously not A-level Further Maths in a year!

You can hardly self-teach IB Maths SL because you have to do the minimum of 2 portfolios. Having some friends taking Maths SL, doing portfolios at SL already seem an uneasy task.

Last but not least, if you are only interested in Management courses, there are many good unis to apply to (KCL offers Management too but I think Maths HL is required). Don't be too obsessed about going to LSE without picking a suitable course.
