like for instance are there any regular dubstep nights on? and is there much local talent?

where im from is tiny but its got a sort of d'n'b / dubstep scene in a sense, and i go to bristol quite a bit so wondered how it compares?

ahh issit. once every 2 weeks is alright i guess! better than nothing  wish it was like couple times a week :frown: x
theres loads pal, market bar in hockley. most nights is dubstep, jungle, drum and bass etc

dont bother with your own freshers stuff especially if at trent, go and discover the real music/club scene

mm that sounds like what im after
yeah thats what im worried about aha, im not a massive fan of the whole uh-ts uhn-ts full of pretty boys cos, to be honest, they are, along with the music, ****.
the only nights i really go out for is dubstep/dnb/indie clubnights/gigs, and i know theres loadsa indie clubnights and gigs in notts so i was hoping there was a good dub scene cos thats my main reason for a club
and i wont be at trent im at uni of lol.
do you know if many other freshers dont go to the usual clubs and go for the more alternative stuff?

Me as well mate tbh, I can see myself hating freshers routine of Oceana/Gatecrash etc =\

Dubstep scenes pretty massive in notts i think, Detonate, Stealth, RUBBERDUB (which is moving closer to town next year)

but yeah, i hope there's more people into dubstep/dnb/jungle rather than all commerical/mainstream *****

if there is a decent night on during freshers maybe a group of us could get together and head down... would be more likely to meet people we'll get along with there, and you get a good night out where you don't have to spend it listening to akon and justin timberlake or whatever...
Check out Basslaced/Detonate.. two major dubstep nights in Nottingham.

Aw I love Tuesday's at Browns  Haven't been in a while but I loved the whole free entry before 10 (or 11?) and the wrist band you got for that and market bar. Plus cheap drinks. It makes for a class night.

Too right, I feel such a **** trying to move to auto-tuned american rubbish, even when I'm hammered I can still feel the shame.

Much rather chew my face off to some filthy basslines, deffo be up for a meet-up, if I get the grades of course

16bit are actually in Notts on 18th Sept, which is unfortunately two weeks too early for freshers =\
I know you all may be freshers but if anyones interested we have these events coming up which I'm helping to promote

Basslaced Dubstep Presents: Pinch, Felis, Senate, Dawntreader, Shoka, Dread MC, (Friday July 10th @ Stealth Nottingham)

Detonate: Mampi Swift, Jakes (DJ Set), Cyantific, Sabre, The Truth, Transit Mafia, Ashburner, Mocco, MC's A.D/Freestyle/Ruthless (Friday July 31st @ Stealth Nottingham)

Ah I know someone who runs it, and I've been hearing a lot of good things but I've never had the chance to go because I can never find any friends who are into dubstep.. but since term has finished I've managed to find a few who do like it.

Did you manage to go to the indoor fest?! it was such a sick night!!! but i missed caspa at basslaced which was a bit unfortunate as eq got so packed that the bouncers stopped letting anyone in!

Tell me about it mate! I'm hopefully going to UoN and we move in on the 20th. I was seriously pissed off when I found out about 16bit

Hah well you could still go down and lurk around in local parks for two days before moving in I suppose, at Trent we don't move in until October unfortunately.

I reckon I'll probably go down anywhere cause I'm yet to see 16bit.

yeah i dunno whats more irritating, the fact that i miss out on seeing 16bit by about 2 weeks... or that trolley snatcha and flux pavillion are playing at herbal in london 2 weeks after i go to uni. sods law
