I'm studying economics and im at Bankside
aaah I'm so excited, terrified about not getting my grades though
had a nightmare last night that for some reason my offer got taken away from me, hope it doesn't mean anything :-/
Like El Mariachi I'm a gap year app, so apart from him no-one can rival my enthusiasm (having spent the best part of a year going up and down the country visiting mates at different unis and desperately waiting to become a student myself)!

I'm at Butler's Wharf though, so if our social scene sucks (one can always hope), I'll probably try and geg into the Bankside crowd (about 15mins away)!

How did your exams go then?

I love the pessimism from the conditional offer holders - you'll all make your offers - most of the lawyers/economists are probably only a few UMS off it at the moment anyway haha!

Horrible. C4 was horrible, was so excited that I actually felt prepared for it and it was a shatter of an exam. History was "To what extent was Hitler's rule a despotic tyranny?" and no one in my hall knew what despotic meant. To add insult to injury, some schools were read out definitions

So yeah, I have reason too worry :p: Although, I only needed 2 straight C's in Maths and D1 went well, then a U in my English exam and a U in my Art project. If I don't get the A in the last 2, I deserve to be decapitated :p:

Hahaha, that pretty much confirms my stereotype about the law students! You're probably one of those students who'll be gutted if they don't get at least three full mark modules in the summer :p:

I'm sure you'll be fine - I'm not sure what board you're on for Lit, but it's one of those subjects everyone does better than they think on at A2 (partly because the questions are always so stupidly worded)!

Now that summer is here I thought it would be nice to have an official chat thread where all us (hopeful) freshers can chat :o:

So who's excited about LSE (assuming people with conditionals make their offers)... I am!

Oi! No, they were genuinely horrible exams! And I have never got a full mark module, bar 2 coursework ones, thank you very much! And I honnestly do not care what I get in History as long as I get those 3 damn A's. Pssh, go take you stereotypes elsewhere mister :hmmm:

I was like that last year - that's why I take so much in joy in having no exam worries!

I'm sure you'll be fine though - are your exams all done and dusted?

Welcome!

Errr, I remember them explicitly saying they don't have to take you in that circumstance, but you could argue your case pretty well. Especially if you're only a few UMS off..

Either Oxbridge rejects or people that would rather spend many more thousand pounds for a similar degree

It will be interesting to see. I personally rejected Downing Cambs for LSE; I didn't like the tutorial system with its spoon-feeding and wanted a self-taught environment. I also wanted to do a postgrad in LSE as it's the best place in the world for an Econ postgrad, so that helped with the decision ... along with being near the leading social scientists.

For some people the London factor is a big reason also ...
