Hey if anyone wants any advice or information about LSE or residences, just ask. I'm second year undergrad staying at Bankside Hall this year, and I should be able to help with any queries anyone's got. Congrats to whoever's already made their offer, and good luck to the rest..

cool...i would appreciate it if you could do a really good review on living in bankside...

To include things such as:

Food.
How social? - are rooms located close together so people can migrate easily.
Walk to lse.
The expensive food. Do most people buy their own breakfast?
How far is the nearest supermarket?
What do yo do for lunch.
etc

Food is alright at halls, but best to get a group of mates and get a takeaway together (pizza, chicken, ect).

Bankside is usually the most social of all LSE residences, got a good common room and bar. It's one of the biggest halls in london. And there's loads of events throughout the year (right from the begining).

You'll find out about food when you get to London, depends on your taste, best to find as many deals as possible, and use them all the time. There's no point of goin to expensive places, you can use that money on booze instead hahaha..

I don't think many students know what breakfast is??.. I don't??!!

Supermarket.. hmm.. you really do love ur food haha.. Google is ur frend!! Again depends on where you like shopping, M&S and costcutters are the closest tbh.

Lunch, eat on campus or subway type shops.

Hope that helps.

so £70 a week sounds reasonable on food for someone living in bankside?

Lunch £5 including drink
Dinner £4
Maybe £1 for breakfast.
£10x7 = £70.

How much money is everyone getting per month to live on? (that is, if your parents are planning on giving you money)

My parents said 1,000pounds is good, thats to pay for my single en-suite at Bankside + books etc. + food + going out + clothes shopping.... is that reasonable?

Yea. It leaves you with £110 a week for spending after rent.

Should be enough as I'll be on £100-£120 a week.

I'm going to be getting around £1000 a month from loans and grants etc. I reckon it will be enough

You're lucky you get a loan! Even though I'm a British citizen with a British passport and British parents, I can't get a government loan because I haven't lived in the UK for the past 3 years...so unfair!

£100 a week is roughly about it for spending money (food, drink, travel, ents).. just a pointer, if you're going out then buy bottles or cans and drink with ur mates while ur getting ready, it will cost you half the price lolzzz... Its all adds up wen you get to December trust me.
