If you used Clearing in 2024, how did you find it?

Take-home exams

Has anyone on here done take-home exams? For one of my easier subjects (ie. not neurosci, man that's doing my head in atm :confused:

) we're given the choice of doing a take-home exam or completing 3 essays on the day, as in we gotta write 3 essays in 3 hours on the day of the exams, but they're not marked as hard. With these take home exams, you get two weeks, but I think you have to research lots about the topics :frown:

Which would you prefer? Take home or writing the essay on the day and why?

I would prefer take home exams better because you don't have to research much as for the essays you need to research a lot more.

I think I would choose the take home exam because I hate essays under timed conditions!

I would do the take home...gives you more time to think about what you're going to say and give a more structured answer. However, if you're the kind of person that works well under pressure it's worthwhile considering doing it on the day in order to get marked easier.

I'd rather do it on the day. if I did the take home one I would end up leaving it until three hours before the deadline anyway!

Do it on the day - concentrated work which is out of the way quickly. I focus better in timed situations.

I did just the same as Jump, for my Media Studies GCSE I didn't do any research or planning right up until the last minute and ended up with a B instead of an A. Ouchy!

If it were me, I'd do the essays on the day :smile:

Same, anyway I've chosen the take home option. Even thought it's marked harder, I don't perform well under timed and stressful conditions either :eek:

I so can relate to what you posted, Nik Nak, it's really annoying when you have to do something under a specified short amount of time :/ Take home it is :smile:
