I say both its what I intend to in the long term. The knowledge I have gained from university will be very useful when running my business.

The problem is you cannot simply become an entreprenuer, you have to have the right FACSETS. There is no reason you cannot go to university and then setup your own business.

The fact you're a graduate will give you some more credit with other companies.

I spose if it goes wrong you've got something to fall back on.... but it seems like a lot of time to waste getting a degree if you have no intention of using it.... and you want to work for yourself

I'm planning on doing both... so... BOTH!

what kind of businesses are you two thinking of starting?

You will use your degree im more ways you could ever imagine, it will open your eyes and give you new ideas. I have a totaly different outlook of business now than I did before I started.

On the other hand it dosn't sound like you want to go, and that will be a waste. Only to go to university if you want to, if not give somebody else a chance.

I've no idea yet. I'd like to have my own restaurant, but it sounds like major hard work. We'll see!

Completely different  I doubt my business will have anything to do with my degree (Geography)

In my case its very very related to my degree. I would be what you call a scientist entrepeneur (even though I am not really a scientist) I am more of a technologist.

Not really if you manage the debt well, also most universities have enterprise departments which help graduates to set up businesses. The government are trying to get more graduates to setup science and research based companies.

Of course if you just want to run a shop then unless you do some kind of business or accounting degree going to university might not help you much.

Also don't go to university for the party, its very over rated in this respect.

I won't start a business staright away, I intend to work for 10-15 years first to raise money and get to a position financially where I can stand to gamble some in a business which might not succeed.

University gets very tough, I have almost finished my final year now and it has been really really stresfull, you have to enjoy it otherwise you will find it really really hard going.

I think you should take a year out and decide what you want to do. University is not for everybody know matter what A levels or GCSEs you got.

You have to everything on your own back at university it requires a lot of dedicated and if you're thinking you don't really want to be here you will fall behind or at least not do as well as you could.

If you don't want to go to uni, then you are wasting your time. You're going to come out on the other side with a lot of debt, so you've got to be motivated enough to do it. Saying I've got 'AAB' at Alevel is no guarantee you're going to find your degree easy, either.

you've both hit the nail on the head there........ I feel like im on the production line... and the next step is uni....... but I'm not motivated to do it..... but feel like I should if you know what I mean!

Then there's little point, tbh. You have to want to go. You're grown up now, you don't have to do something just because you fell you should. Take a gap year, figure out what you want to do with your life, and reapply next year if you decide uni is for you.
