Does anyone know the general time frame for international postgraduates before classes start? Is there usually an orientation? How early are some of you going to arrive before classes start? I'm thinking maybe 2 weeks?

I'm not an international student but I am moving up to scotland for mine, I live in London now, so almost another country!

Most courses start mid/late September, however some post grad courses start in early sept (like mine). I'm moving up 2/3 weeks before it starts.

I'm going to attend presessional English courses for 8 weeks although the University didn't ask me to do it. I think it's a good way to know the whole situation, like accommodation, studying method and the local culture. As I know, most universities have orientation programmes, from 2 days to one week varied from university to university. You can ask your university in advance.

My course starts on the 21 of Sept, and I was thinking on arriving on the 14-17. Although, the problem is that I wont be allocated my room until the 20.

i never actually thought of that , going over before course starts, but i think mayb i will go about oone or two weeks ahead, that should give me enough time to settle in and organise myself, and get used to where everything is before course starts !

Yeah! I am hoping to convince some friends or atleast my other half to come with me, so that it will be easier for me to move around with my stuff  Are you planning on going with someone? BTW, what residence did you apply for?
