Scared to go clubbing!

I'm female, 19 years old, single, and I'm scared to go clubbing. :frown:

I've avoided it because of this and all my friends go without me now. I really want to go but I don't know what it's like, I don't know how to dance, what to drink and how to act. I don't know what to wear either. This is really getting me down :frown: I don't want to talk about this with my mates because i know they will laugh about it.

Any tips or advice? What type of things would a 19 year old female wear clubbing? how do you dance? what do you drink?

I've been trying to learn to dance at home, but i dont know what they dance like at clubs.

i just need someone t point me in the right direction :o: I dont want to make a fool of myself

I'm just like you but male. even the same age. i don't dance but i will happly drink. i have never being clubbing but personally that doesn't bother me.

wear sexy clothes

where abouts are u? pm me?
to be honest, you really don't need to fret about it.
noone in the club will even know whether you've been clubbing before.
some people dance in clubs, some people don't.
when i go clubbing,i just go crazy - noone's stood there judging me on whether I'm dancing in the right way or not.

My friends and I get dressed up.. usually just wear a dress and heels and put some make up on. However,i do know some people who go quite casually. perhaps.. a top and skirt?
at the end of the day wear what you feel comfortable in - as long as it's not trackies and trainers :P

I reckon you should just give it a go.. don't worry as much.. i'm sure you'll enjoy yourself. and remember to bring your ID  !

Trust me you really don't know how to dance in a nightclub. Everyone does their own drunken thing.

Ask what your friends what you should wear. Preferably something sexy.

you're not missing much
If you go, you'll find out! It is hard to describe how to dance as styles really vary depending on what style of music is being played and what type of club it is. What type do your mates like? Just dance freely or copy some moves until your confidence increases.

Drink whatever you find is tasty! There is no set thing to drink.. sometimes I have nights where I just go for nice, tasty drinks if I don't want to get really drunk. Others I go for boring drinks like double vodka & coke if I'm either skint or want to get drunk

Like dancing, how people dress also depends on the type of club, music and clientelle! Just dress up a little in something that makes you feel good and comfortable. It doesn't have to be super sexy if you don't want lots of attention from guys but its fun to do that sometimes. Just have fun and relax... remember it doesn't matter if you think you did something silly because most people there are drunk and won't remember

Look up the new styles online, like river island style insider, that would give you some idea.
And the dancing bit- I usually just go with the flow, once you have a drop of alcohol in your system you wont care what way you dance or who's watching you, seriously, ye gota get out there.

If you want to go with your friends, plan a day out with them and go shopping during the day and then you can find something to wear and they can see if they think it's suitable if you really don't have a clue.

You really have nothing to worry about though, it really is just a bunch of drunk people having a good time and moving about to some music.

Everyone's totally different in clubs. There's no "normal" thing to do. First time, just blag it. I guarantee as long as you're reasonably socially adept you can do it. I managed it and I'm pretty socially awkward normally. Drink vodka & coke or something like that, it's a safe bet (just tastes like coke). Wear what you'd wear out for a birthday meal, dance however you like. Just bob if you like, as you drink more you'll be less self-concious and enjoy the dancing more. If you go really crazy you might get some odd looks but nobody'll call you up on it unless you're physically beating people around you.

1.) Dresses etc, you must have seen your mates go out. Stuff that's too fancy for everyday wear, but informal.
2.) TRUST ME, don't think about dancing, just move. It's dark, there's flashing lights, you'd have to try to actually notice how someone is dancing unless they're flailing about like an octopus. I guess if you're really stuck and need the obvious spelled out, try to just move to right tempo of the music, and don't take up loads of space by moving about all over the place!
3.) Anything you want! If you can enjoy yourself without having alcohol then save yourself the money!

Go shopping with your friends. And for dancing, for girls, it doesn't really matter at all unless you're disgusting and fat. You'll pick it up easy.

go alone one night and observe

Borrow a dress from your friends, get ready along with them and they can do your make-up for you ( a lot of people love doing this anyway it wouldn't be a big deal!) , dancing- just keep flailing arms/legs to a minimum..

I agree get ready with your mates maybe that way you will at least feel more ease beforehand.

Seriously don't worry at all about dancing no one really gives a care. My friend was doing the sprinkler the other night when we were out and she was having a great old time. Oh and my boyfriend does some kind of strange kangaroo hop....but we just tend to ignore that.

No one in a club knows how to dance, especially drunk. Don't worry about it, no one judges people based on their dancing on a night out (unless they're jumping/flailing about like a drugged up kangaroo). If you're really that worried, just copy the people around you. As for drinks, buy whatever you like the taste of; if this is difficult then get a vodka and coke then branch out from there when you feel more comfortable.

It's more likely the bouncer on the door not letting you in that stops you clubbing then... :p:

OP, go, dress how you like, dance like nobody is watching and drink what you like. Simply put, it's your night, do what you want with it.
Just have fun. who cares what you're wearing, drinking or how you're dancing.
maybe ask your friends what they're wearing to go out.
