I voted Ally McBeal.

(As a joke... I want to be challenged in my chosen degree, and have flexibility in choosing career paths. I also just love Law  *is sad.*)

The intellectual challenge and the flexibility of the degree. I have no interest in becoming a lawyer and English, History or Politics would have built up the same skills but it serves as a nice safety net if I do screw up my first career choice and have to become a lawyer out of necessity.
I want a career in Law for a couple of reasons, these are:

1) Good Money
2) Hope one day to influence law making albeit through case law or if ever in a million years I get involved in politics with law. Why hasn't OAPA 1861 been changed yet??? Why was it only 1992 before the law recognised that marital rape was wrong??? Our law is so archaic and old, it seriously needs updating. (they are just a few examples in Criminal Law, I'm sure you guys can think of many more examples lol )
3) I feel I want to give something back to the system that sorted out many issues for me personally when I was very young.

What about a plain old interest in the law, legal systems and decisions?

Or do I have to ""make changes to the Law" or "want to enforce it"?

No, you could have picked other.

my parents told me i had to....
I always felt like law had an impact on everyone's lives so to be involved in the wya it develops and changes means I have an impact on everyone (and my superioirty complex is fulfilled lol)

Well its too late now, i've nearly finished my 1st year, lol!
I would say other because i want to help correct injustices and protect innocent people, cheesy as it may sound. I'm not being naive but money is not my top priority.

haha suprised i was the only one that chose prove your intellect, money too of course but prestige is more important to me, if your looking for rich and young I banking's hot cause Medicine just takes too long and law requires a crazy work load, but having never been a top student academically and having always told myself it was lack of effort, I worked a bit harder in my last two years and want to challenge myself by doing one of the most academically challenging courses, plus work experience was kind of inspirational, p.s. Ms. Annik any particular reason you chose Manchester over KCL? had the same dilemma but i chose the other way round well couldn't keep Manchester as insurance but you know what I mean...

i just had a fear of london.. and felt a lil odd at the open day. at manchester open day, i got on really well with everyone and i loved the city. then i loved the accommodation.. plus i thought AAA would motivate me to do work. in all honesty, if i get AAB..ill still b going to a good uni. which open days did you go to?
A mixture of the first three choices really. Ive always wanted to go into Law even from wanting to be a policeman. I really detest the leniency in law for young offenders who are more often than not as bad as "Adult" offenders. And then of course its not a bad job to make a living from.

From that poll: decent money/fairly secure job prospects, proves my intellect (the little of it there is), and the flexibility of the degree... But the main reason I chose Law is just cos I find it a fascinating subject (if a little dry in [several] places) which goes back for ages but is developing all the time. The philosophy behind it, the ways of thinking that go into the application of it, all that kinda thing.

My interest spiraled from things such as Ally Mcbeal (yes i know it isn't really like that) and John Grisham books. But after seeing a lot of trials in courts (for RE and with my Nana) i became seriusly interested, the money doesn't really play a part for me, i like the idea of success and also i want to be a barrister (so do many of you i assume).
It is also a subject that is huge and full of variety and options, so if i did/do ever become bored i ahve options!plus i love a challenge!!!
