Some people have been complaining that they can't find the TSR group on facebook.
The group is secret because we have loads of wuss members who can't bear the thought that anybody in the real world knows they're on TSR :p: So you find it by clicking on the littile icon of two people at the bottom left of the facebook (its on every page) and that takes you to a page which shows your groups on the right and groups that your friends have joined on the left. TSR will be on your list of groups on the right, but you might have to click 'see all of my groups' or something.

Err how do we join this group if it's secret?

I have no problem with people knowing I'm on TSR.

As I said in the Freshers chat thread and the thread about our first Fresher meet this term - you PM me and either I give my name and you add me or vice versa, and I send an invitation from within the group admin options. I'm not the only admin - most of the people on this thread could also do it.

As do I; I ended up forgetting to remove the label from underneath my new pot, though, so I've already justified the reason why we are usually refused them.

For once I have such mixed feelings about coming back. I usually feel totally neutral, but this time I'm torn between missing my life and Cambridge (not really the work obviously) while wanting to stay here. I've had an awesome holiday at least

We went for a farewell family meal at a new Japanese restaurant this evening. The sushi was SO cheap and so good! And they had this rather surprising 'deep fried ice cream' dessert. I had hoped that it would literally be a scoop of ice cream that had been exposed to hot oil in a fryer so evenly that it retained its shape and developed a crispy shell with melted innards... but sadly it was ice cream wrapped in a thin layer of dough and then fried! This was slightly less cool, but it was nice, and it was layered. The ice cream was still frozen in the centre but melted near the outside :yep:

I don't think that's physically possible... although I will have to admit that I am no ice cream physicist :p: .

In other news, I'm totally back to Cambridge routine, and I have only been here since Friday.

Maybe if you took a scoop of ice-cream, dipped it in sugar, and then dumped it in the hot oil for just a couple of seconds? The sugar might caramelise and give you that thin shell before the ice-cream had time to melt much.

edit: the first person to try it would have to be fairly brave though. Exploding hot fat everywhere = not fun.

What if the sugar in the ice cream quickly caramelised and solidified? I'm assuming that it couldn't just evaporate because its in liquid. Unless it dissolved into bubbles and a few carbon shards :frown:

Oh well

EDIT: Snap Tom :five:

Have any messages been sent to that group recently? I don't think I've received any for ages.

No, the last we sent was last academic year.

When I get back to Cambridge I'll look at the poll and send out a message with time and place based on the consensus. If anybody needs to know sooner just look at the poll again - whatever the majority options were should give you a good enough idea to keep your diary free.

I really miss Camchatters' outings. :frown:
Off on placement so am missing most of freshers' week (which is a pity since I am now apparently a fresher again, and the MCR has lots of freshers' week/fortnight stuff which I'm missing!!! :frown:). And apparently where I am has no internet! :s-smilie: (Yes there is mobile broadband but that isn't nearly as fast or unlimited as college's broadband, which managed to download a 500MB show off iplayer last night in less than a minute.)

Do tell. :p:

I'm thinking of things to say in my speech... hmm... :hmmmm:

I did my Library Rep speech the other day! I told the freshers to come to me if they had any concerns or reservations. Sorry, I couldn't resist :o:
Craghyrax
Lol, didn't I tell you that? :p: I'm glad you like your room. I seem to remember it having alot of shelves, which I always find a huge plus. I don't think it was very light, but none of LSM is, and a basement room on Fitz wouldn't be any better for that.

You did not :judge: It does have a few shelves, but not as many as SPT. The problem isn't that it is dark but that the bulb is completely inadequate.

New Terry Pratchett is in Heffers  I'm going to get it as soon as I have finished my summer project...

Or maybe wait until my loan has come through and I do the massive shop for things which I have forgotten / run out of. Like toothpaste.
