I was there, yeah. If you're at the TSR meet I dare say we'll recognise one another now. I was the male violinist with a beard stood next-ish to Chess Piece Face (at least, I didn't see any other lefty guitarrists) in the second half, but I didn't say anything because I figured it'd make more sense to talk on Sunday. Really enjoyed it. I realise it was a slooow speed session tonight compared to what you might normally do, but still. It was just so good to be in a group that size again. And I could listen to our glorious leader talk for hours on end. I'm having so many accentsquees around college as well. It was kind of also nice to go to a Real World pub rather than be in College, but it also seemed strange actually having to pay normal prices. liek omg. It was then that it struck me just how much wine college have provided me this week.
CPF was in the back right hand corner as you face down the hall, as was I (roughly)
And yeah, it was slow. We generally play everything around 50% faster and we'll be speeding up over the next few weeks. Plus there's the sessions as well, which will start next week and are (for me) the best bit
The West Wing
It's not really like that, if they put you on at 4am or 5am (normal for Ceilidh) you don't get to enjoy the ball because you have to prepare and not get drunk/worn out before you can perform. It's a hard life performing at balls!
True, but because the balls are so long, some people did get a bit tipsy, go on all the rides, eat loads of stuff, have a nap, wake up sober and be ready to play It is a bit different for a singer I'd imagine though.
Yes, but it's a bit ticklish. We have a piano in the music room but we have no stage piano (although we could get something without too much trouble). We have no piano part, so you'll have to vamp from the chords. We generally get a few pianists sign up and they don't turn up.
You mean you'd have to improvise - well that's me out.

i was looking through economics part I tripos papers today and my inability to even understand most of the questions was upsetting.
It's to be expected - you've hardly started the course.
Come to Clare Comedy (in Cellars) on Sunday night. Its supposed to be one of the best comedy nights in Cambridge. James and I are doing sound and light, and one of my good friends (PhD Student at Clare) is now running it. If anyone wants to do stand-up in the future he's always looking for new people.
Why are physics A, physics B and maths not scheduled in a 3-hour block with one after the other on the same day? It would surely be the most sensible thing to do, since it's probably the most common combination of 1B natsci options. As it is, they're at 9, 11 and 12, leaving an annoying gap.
It's not that bad! Imagen if you weren't doing maths, then you have phys B 9 Phys A 12 and then another subject in some random place (potentially 9 tues thurs sat).
I don't know if I like my earliest lecture being 12, this could mean bad things for me...

Are you doing Physics A this year, then? I can't remember what you decided on in the end.

I just quoted you cos you said you liked the space, but I did think afterwards that you probably wouldn't be interested, but have been too busy to change it!
Interesting that you enjoy reading Pratchett and things but don't like comedy though. Is it just stand-up you don't like?
Aaargh, why is every single copy of Rousseau's 'The Discourses & Other Early Political Writings' (ed: V. Gourevitch) out of every single library in existence?!
Do we need to do anything to get our student loan? I seem to remember last year taking the letter from student finance with the barcode on to be scanned.
Ugh. Today reminded me why I hate Sainsbury's. Why do they employ the oldest/slowest check-out people they can find?

We just had to email a copy of our barcode letter (no idea what it's called) to the finance person over the summer. Everyone I know got the loan through on Wednesday....

Bill Bailey is the only comedian I've experienced who isn't so lame that he has to resort to sex, toilet humour or cliched stereotypes in order to be funny. I very much enjoy British wit, but generally find that comedians don't live up to it
Catsmeat
Sorry for being useless at remembering, but what is the time of the talk on Monday night and the tea? I have a 2-4 lecture at the Education Faculty on Monday, so probably won't be back in town until 4:30.

I'll have a look for you tonight if you like. However, my college son has just switched to Politics, so he might have it out now. (Perhaps you know him - name's Aslan.) Another thing: have you tried the Whipple library on Free School Lane? Or the Kashmir library?
