Add a little cheddar and you've inadvertently discovered the first part Mr. V's comfort food menu.

A slight, luxurious advance on that:

1. Fry some bacon (cut into bitesized chunks) until it's almost done, then add mushrooms.
2. Let cook for a while.
3. Do some pasta in the meantime.
4. When the mushrooms are done drain the bacon fat and store for another day, then add some pesto, basic and some water from cooking the pasta.
5. ???
6. PROFIT

(i have somehow started a fine dining society in my college and it's great)

On that topic, what time does sainsbury's open tomorrow?

10-5 or 11-5, I think.

i always thought fumblewomble was a more female name...
I'm not at my college bop. I didn't have much desire for it.

On a more positive note, my travel kettle arrived today and I also spent the day with a friend who i know from primary school in Lancashire who moved to Essex when we were 11 who I've only seen once since then before today. Spent the day walking around Cambridge, getting lost and walking the long way round to the Grafton centre.

I also replaced the Parker pen I lost (and was distraught about losing) with one from Borders :woo:
I just bought some more clothes so I can go for at least 3 weeks now without doing laundry :woo:

Saying that the jeans I bought were too long but I feel they're too lovely to take back :frown:

I also found the Homerton hoody I'm going to buy and walk around in like a tourist just as soon as my student finance comes through :woo:

You're not the first person to say that.

And as my last repper commented:

[Quote]Fumblewomble... it sounds like some kind of fumbly bumbly wombly type creature.

I think that puts it well enough. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FZ2mJPSccvo
Back from bop, was surprisingly fun - worth going instead of 'metrics anyway.
 just got back from college bar. As we left the back gate we challenged some grad's to proove they're king's members before we let them in and one of them tries to start on us. Having got over that situation we cross queen's road using the lights and a car tries to run the lights (on amber by this point) straight into us! they screech to a stop and get all road ragey trying to get out of the car and attack us! (luckily we disappeared behind the locked gate of our accomodation) there must be something about being king's undergrads at the moment, we're clearly the people to attack just now.
I bought a water filter softener jug thing today. It's lovely. It won't get me my lovely Lancashire water back, but it helps so much. It sounds so silly, but a little thing like that has been bugging me so much. And to make some progress on it is just immensely satisfying.

I also bought some crimson curtains today . I think they'll turn into a couple of nice cloaks at some point.

I know isn't the water so different here! I thought it was just me. My green tea is not the same

where did you get it from/how much was it?

Can I just say how **** the student papers are here? I thought OxStu and Cherwell were bad (sensationalist journalism, a total lack of news...), but the front page article (which ran way too long, and was mostly photo) included a mention of a "nasty case of rhinnorhea (sp?)" or some such - some really really informal, rah-girl way of talking about brain damage (CSF leaking from your nose is not what a journalist should be describing as 'nasty'!) The only good point I've seen so far is the Fitzbillies voucher and the su doku...

I always find them in Sidney Sussex college toilets when I'm in the city and go in. They never look like much...

Varsity is really bad but I've found TCS generally OK.

I got it from Argos, Fitzroy Street just outside the Grafton centre. It was £9 I think, with one cartridge, and maybe £7 if you wanted to get 3 more. But then that was Argos value. I don't know how much better it would be to get BRITA or anything. I'm happy with mine, at any rate.

Why don't they get real toilet paper?

Why don't they get real toilet paper?

I actually got lost trying to find the toilets there yesterday :s-smilie: I swear they move them every time I go in.

It sounds like I've been fortunate enough to have missed out on Varsity for a few months...!

I generally found both papers to be a little lame. Varsity was a little sensationalist, and TCS had a mahoosive (?) Arts section and the 'out-of-the-bubble' section, while well intentioned, was just...not right. If I wanted news from outside cam, I'm get it elsewhere.

Lie ins are AWESOME.
