I am so jealous of you having Irn-Bru :frown:

 You know you can buy six-packs of the stuff in Sainsbury's, right? Or 500ml bottles in WH Smith. Or 2l bottles in the Co-op. Or just bulk order from Tesco Online.

I am not an addict btw

I am so stressed out right now and miss Cambridge. I'm not matriculating (im incorporating so dont have to go to the ceremony but please God let the tutorial lady have told the people doing the roll call) tomorrow but I have to be in the stupid academic dress tomorrow and I HAVE THE WRONG GOWN because the morons sold me an undergrad one and not the grad one but apparently I cant exchange it because the whole of ******* Oxford is out of gowns of any kind. All I need it is for a picture and I am so stressed that I will get yelled at/laughed at. I will skulk at the back.

Oh and the goddamn photocopier is jammed (and no-one can seem to fix it) and I have to give my friend this book tomorrow so I have to copy out loads of stuff for no reason.

:frown: Sorry. *extends arm of empathy* Sometimes nothing seems to go right. On the other hand, if you do get yelled at for finicky gown issues it's always a story you can tell to future acquaintances.

I'm feeling existential at the moment. Always a bit existential while tipsy.

Hmmm... they don't care that much about gowns... or they don't at Cambridge, in my college anyway! I was sold by my JCR a second-hand Masters gown and matriculated in it. The first I realised was at the end of my first term when after Christmas formal a postgrad commented that I looked a bit young to have a Masters already, so naturally I said "wtf?". Luckily he happened to be a major member of the choir and so could easily swap my gown for an undergraduate one from the chapel's spare gown store.

I's just annoyed me because I am a fairly organised person but waited till only a few days ago to buy a gown because I'm at a college with no real 'gown tradition' and wasnt matriculating. They say you can wear the academic ress of your old institution or something, though? So if I cant get an Ox grad gown I may just buy the Cambridge BA gown (which imo is nicer!!!)

^ Can you get Cambridge gowns in The Other Place?

That's hardly universal; its Robinson!
:hugs: to minimo!

It's the Clare Open Mic in the Cellars a week from a today and TWW and I will be performing! I will also be premiering an epic masterpiece that I have been working hard on for a long time. :p: (Some of you here will know what I'm talking about; for those who I haven't told, I'll keep it a surprise!) I'm not sure what TWW will be performing but he never disappoints. So it'd be really cool if some of you CamChatters could come.

I'll be there  Tempted to perform, but not altogether sure what. Doubt that melodeon playing would go down great anyway.
I was up half the night coughing and only just got up :frown: My mum said I should go to the doctor as I've now been ill for a while, but I'm worried they'll tell me it's swine flu or something and that I'm wasting their time... Eurgh. Still too energy-less to do any work - I'm now two essays and a Russian comprehension behind :frown:
I have discovered something anew, namely that on saturdays in order to get anywhere from my house I have to walk straight past the LSM bookstall. It is almost right outside my front door. I bought 4 books today and spent a good 20 minutes happily browsing. One major find, a book on British Sailing Craft, but it isn't getting on with Vector Calculus :s-smilie:

What time? I've never been to an Open Mic before so it might be interesting to see!

My impression of Clare Open Mic is that it's a lot more insular than those of other colleges. It's virtually entirely Clare people (not that there's anything wrong with that, as our student musicians are abnormally talented). I'd personally love to hear you play the melodeon but I have a feeling that non-Clareites would be received a little coldly in a way that can't be said of the open mics at, say, King's and Jesus.

Having said that, you do have links with Clare via ceilidh people and the TSR crew, so... Hmm, what does TWW think?

The e-mail didn't specify the time... The previous ones have all been at 9pm, but I'll keep you updated when I find out for sure.

Clare is easily the best college Open Mic - I say this not out of college pride but objective fact. :p: Our Open Mic is an event whereas for a lot of other colleges they're an afterthought or just another night in the bar.

oh wow, I seriously freaked out for nothing. Nobody even NOTICED let alone cared about my dodgy academic dress and there was someone there who wasnt even in sub fusc and was matriculating.

:console: when I first came I got ill and now a lot of people on my corridor are coughing and spluttering and I have a sore throat again :frown:

Everything's falling apart.
I also couldn't sleep last night and got up before 7
