Craggy (I'm quite worried that I've lurked enough to know that a lot of people call her that -_-)...

Everybody knows the Cragster  How was the picketing?

I did my undergraduate degree here from 2002-2005, moved to London and am now back doing an MPhil. Being back is a peculiar mix of weird and strangely normal...

So, because I've been here before, if you've any questions, just shoot. I'm not sure I know any more than anyone else who's on here, but I could at least maybe give another perspective! :o:

oOo!!! What MPhil? If you don't mind sharing...
Blaah
I think I followed you into King's earlier, with a big blue board and poles sticking out of your bag?
Its a shame you didn't follow me all the way into the Chetwynd, because you missed out on lots of free cake :sadnod: Its been a good day for bumping into TSRers though. I saw Excalibur at the Refreshers Tea Party, and I saw Canned Door at Emma hall this evening, although I don't know if he noticed me.

Well, I dealt with it today by making my way to that Italian place on market square, with the outside tables and green canopies. Once seated I ordered a strong black coffee and rolled a very careful cigarette. I am now feeling pretty good about everything.
Why market square? Its one of my least favourite places in Cambridge.
Catsmeat
I wonder what he would have to say of the internet? A tool which, sure, is standardized to some degree, but otherwise a mess of conflict and contradiction ...
Well its my job to answer that this year for SOC4: Media, Culture and Society :awesome:

Come to ours-it''s £12! Still expensive...

It could be lupus
lolz at everyones prices for formal. Try a fiver

£5.60, in the oldest hall in Cambridge with candles :proud:
K.T.

Bad point of the day: finding out I may be spending my year abroad in the German version of Cambridge.
Where is that, and why? I thought Russia was an option.
leala4628
I wish I was studying music.
There's a very simple solution to that :shifty:

I've spoken to someone called Rosie whos at Homerton doing Education and English in the second year. Shes going to try to find you and bring you along to Church this Sunday.
Rosie Hartropp?
leala4628
Ooh that's exciting-is it a good church?
Yes
leala4628
Funny sermons?
Footlights are usually to be found at the ADC.

It's not a partnership formed by Cells, me and Rosie, we go way back. We is tight bro'. Our relationship is closer than L- and D- amino acids. She brings my zymogen granules to my apical end. She gives me an advancing pseudopodium.

It seems that there's a free copy of The Private Eye in today's TCS.
This isn't normal? I wandered what the thing that fell out of my TCS was. Glad its not more spam from bloody Careers like everything else seems to be :grumble:

In my experience, there's usually about 1-3 people from NI in each year at Trinity. If you want to meet lots of NI people, you'd just have to go and hang around outside Corpus!
Or Peterhouse  They probably make up a quarter of the population.

So can somebody tell me what Question Time was like then? I didn't have time to watch it :frown:

Man its been a busy day! That Adorno kept me up really late last night, so I slept through my alarm and only really woke up with enough time to get up and ready for the Refreshers Tea Party. I helped set it up and pack up afterwards, and the moment I got back I hit the library until it closed! Luckily tonight's reading was considerably more palatable...

You should be worried that you know that she is a 'she'

I presume that this refers to the measured and unconfrontational stuff and not the paperclips?

What a day. Skipped a lecture (economics, where she reads off the slides) and went to the library, working almost solidly until my supervision at 5 with another engineer, doing an examples paper almost from scratch. Then dashed to the pub and spent the rest of the evening with ceilidh band, which I needed.

I really, really wish I found this degree easier. I've long since given up all hope of a first, I just want to scrape a 2:1 in my third year and a merit in my fourth and then I've got enough to get a decent job. Except for the fact that I passionately love everything else about Cambridge apart from the work I would wish that this degree would go quicker, as it is I'll almost certainly be looking to work in Cambridge once I graduate.

Exactly!? I mean you'd think we'd actually be able to capitalise on the recession (sorry, couldn't resist) and avoid all this crap for a change, but no :motz:

I passed you guys practicing on my way to the library and it sounded impressive. Also I was amazed at how many people you fit into the Music Room; I've never passed a recital that large!

Do you know that Tilly switched into SPS? What with her and Aslan I had cause enough to send out an officious 'SPS Rep' email to them inviting them to an SPS tea :proud:

I should organise another family occasion too. Grandfather is back from Paris and can fill Dad's shoes :p:

I get really cunning letters which start on waxing lyrical about SPS and what a brilliant subject it is and then suddenly twisting round and telling me what a fantastic consultant I'd make :lolwut: The most annoying one was 'Dear Richenda, Congratulations on your First... blahblahblahinvestmentbankingblahblahblah' So that I instantly assumed it was from the University and then discovered otherwise :ahhhhh: Its like opening a letter only for a large spider to emerge :yucky:

Craggy: is reassured by the overwhelming majority of disgusted status updates relating to Griffin's performance on QT. She is alarmed, however, to note the occasional *sympathetic* status by students of Peterhouse!!! >.<

Given that the bulk of my facebook friends are 'students of Peterhouse', I'm beginning to wonder whether that was a good idea... :ninja2:

So much for an early night. I've ventured into the unknown territories of BBC iPlayer and am fairly pleased I didn't need to install anything in order to watch Question Time.
Yeah, I wanted an early night too but only got up at 10.30am and slept two hours during the afternoon, so am not tired. Though I did four hours of martial arts today, so should in theory be exhausted.

Similar problem because I woke up at midday :pinch: I've swallowed some melatonin, so I should be sleepy by the time QT finishes.
I bet that Griffin doubled his lead in the polls this evening. Yes, his preformance isn't going to sit well with the Cambridge crowd, but the method of straight-up denial will win him some support, especially since the opposition couldn't immediately produce videos of him saying the more outrageous things he did. Especially given the abysmal preformance of Jack Straw, and the mediocre one of the Conservative woman, I wouldn't be surprised if a section of the working classes began to reengage with the "common sense" version of himself he tried to put across tonight.

when the BNP members' list came out there was someone who listed their address as Peterhouse, Cam and (I think) had occupation down as 'student'. sadtimes.

I suppose that this means that people doing Part III this year won't get it? Or can they possibly delay their graduation till next October to get a MASt?

Previous Part III students will be able to supplicate for either an M.Math or M.A.St. depending on whether they were taking Part III for honours or not, following the precedent set by the introduction of the LL.M. and M.Eng.

Marburg, in NE Hessen (scarily close to the Smelly Commune from the Summer & with a population of 80,00) :frown: I still can't decide which language I prefer, so I'm applying to both countries. An Erasmus is a really good opportunity, but not if I'm going to be stuck somewhere I hate for a year (AGAIN ). I might regret it if I turn it down, I might regret it if I accept... it's all a bit of a nightmare wrapped in a mess.

huladancingmunchkin noticed you. I was facing the other way, but I looked and confirmed the Craggy sighting  Were you there for Evensong? It sounded so nice from outside, just going past.
