Migrating user accounts is still deadly dull.

Really? It seemed like you were enjoying it for a moment.

Blargh! I've now put off my dissertation work to the point where I'm now going to have to work at it in a term timescale in order to get something written on time  I blame Cambridge: I've been conditioned into only responding to encroaching deadlines

Meanwhile I'm very effectively procrastinating by looking at the course details of various MAs and MPhils, which is actually as boring as hell. I don't want to have to look at different courses - I just want to stay in my department

The other MA deadlines aren't as imminent Craggles, just go for the Cam one and work on your diss, you can sort out other apps later on. :yep:

Thanks.
How's your foot?
Alright, still a bit swollen - I've just been sitting all day though.

Were you driving, and do you have time off work?

I had a big car crash when I was 18. Wrote off my Mum's car :frown:

Your sailing pictures are fantastic! There's one in particular you should set as your facebook profile pic :yep:
No I was in the passenger seat, thats the side he hit, a stupid speeding and (we suspect) uninsured driver. It took the entirety of the front of the car off, all the bumper and stuff. No one was hurt though.

I've just found the perfect MA at Warwick. Unfortunately I've just noticed that the main person teaching the modules I most care about also happens to be someone who's book I'm reading for my dissertation and intend to attack vociferously :erm:

Omg! Did you see it coming or were you looking elsewhere when he hit? Scary stuff :s-smilie:

Exeter might be the place to go for PhD then

True. Seems I'm having the same experience as you in terms of the majority of relevant departments not offering courses I care for. At least I've found a few.

Too much choice can be problematic, trying to remember which courses you like the look of, balancing that against supervisors and university reputation, course cost, what you think of the university itself (city/campus) - I found it difficult trying to decide between just Cambridge and Leicester, it would have been a lot worse if, say, Oxford, York, Manchester, Edinburgh have been thrown in as well! Will you get chance to visit any of the universities you haven't seen? Actually going to Leicester was useful for me.

I've now narrowed it down to five, which I think is a good number just to guarantee a place and maximise chances of a funded place somewhere. Three are very good or perfect, and two are good enough.

I've already seen Kent and Bristol, but I haven't been to Sussex or Warwick. I can easily go in to check them out I think. The supervisor thing will be tricky - even if the person specialises in the thing I'm interested in, it could be difficult if they have very different views/orientations within the topic's relevant debates :s-smilie: I guess I'll try and read things published by them.

Bleh. I've been it a bit of a weird mood all day, mainly because I had the most fantastic evening last night. Selwyn Choir and the Chaplain came round for a barbecue, and my mum really surpassed herself with a magnificent spread, and I got to see my Selwynite friends and my friend from New Hall, and I properly met a load of the choir I only knew by sight (and voice). Then before dessert, they all formed ranks and sang for my family and some friends we'd had round: they were as magnificent as ever, even with a lot of Belgian beer down them! Then we had strawberries and cake and they sang happy birthday to my little brother. And i mentioned how I'd love to be a part of the choir, and my New Hall friend made me sing for her and then told me I should definitely audition, and I mentioned it to the Director of Music/choirmistress who said she'd very much like to hear me sing when we get back in Michaelmas which is YAY! And then I left with them, and took them all out into Brussels for drinks, and we all got quite drunk together and it was just the most amazing night ever.

And now I am sad with the absence of Selwyn love :frown:

ACK! Lyra just stepped onto the edge of her litter tray causing it to tip over, and showered herself and the floor with litter! Luckily it was clean litter. She then proceeded to walk away from it nonchaltantly as if to say 'it wasn't me'... Silly puss!

Not mine, Alex's. I may put the three or four that I have up there (my camera ran out of battery), they are of the same (insanely beautiful) part of the Finnish Archipelago that we decided to call the land at the end of the world (sailing into the east, water brackish [very little salt]). You should be able to get the reference :p:
