On a work-related note: I think I'm struggling a bit with physics, based on the supervision work for the last couple weeks (and comparing to how it's gone for the other parts of my course). Is it worth emailing my DoS now, just as a heads up and telling him what I'm planning to do to try to tackle it, or should I wait till I'm more sure?

It sounds like a silly question when worded like that...

How are other people finding it? If everyone's struggling then I don't think there's any need to bother your DoS just yet. Remember that the work is designed to be difficult!

This is why lots of colleges have the in/out slidey board things in each building. You can't really 'sign out' every time you leave college in the early morning to row/swim/go to the library/whatever else you'd do at that Godforsaken hour. :p:

Does anyone actually use those? Ours seem to be permanently set to one or the other..... :p:

It might be because I missed my lecture yesterday :frown:

Come on, if this thread has taught you nothing else, you must have noticed that sleeping through lectures, supervisions...hell, practically entire modules is entirely normal for Cambridge students!

Do they really, though?

I've never seen them at any college I've visited.

I'd like one :yep:

Do you know what else we're missing here, those cool name things you have on staircases to show who lives there.

Here at Homerton one uses post it notes.

I've seen them at Selwyn and Oxford St John's.

Ok, I've figured out why I'm translating the "somewhat ridiculous and unwieldy caudal appendix" of the imperfect subjunctive. It's a non-French author who had a thing for Proust's writing. :eek3:
I've just looked at the post statistics for this thread and think I have a problem.

The Old Court ones here get hand-painted in fiddly calligraphy on the side of the staircase and above our actual bedroom doors

Do you think I could make one? Using a blackboard and chalk...

When we came we got given a post it note to stick on our door with our name on. It's just not the same.

I'm really confused as to what to do tonight-work on Theology in the knowledge that they might not let me in, or work on EE in the knowledge that I might be leaving it.

Theology. Good to make sure you really want to change into it after all.
You know it's time to sign out for the night when your quote box shows you've posted in a thread asking ''how much cheesecake is too much'' and you've just made a joke about Girton's location

I will now go back to the more intellectual pastime of watching Will and Grace.

I've got the Greek book out they recommend as that'll be the most difficult to catch up on. I've also been told to read the gospels which should be fun

This may be a good time to buy the study Bible I've wanted since I was about 10.

Just as someone else said, there's 'struggling' not-being-able-to-do-everything-like-at-school, which is normal, and struggling being-really-much-more-out-of-your-depth-than-everyone-else, when you might want to flag it up. I suspect you'll find it's the former

Thanks, guys. I'll give it another week to judge, find out from other people how they're getting on, and try going back and redoing questions that we covered in the supervisions to check I've taken it in. Maybe ask my supervisor what he thinks then, too.

I don't even know how to look at the post stats. :o:
But if you've overtaken Craggy, then yes, you might have a problem. :sadnod:
