NOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!

*ahem*

I have two hole punchers and I've been trying to get rid of one of them for over a year :o: May I please put it in your pigeon hole? Just PM me name and college.

If he doesn't want it I will take it . I have been meaning to go buy one for a while now

Much obliged!

Anyway, does Harrison Drive exist? It's supposed to be at Homerton, but I can't find it on Google Maps... If not, are there science labs near Homerton?

Yes. The Education Faculty is on it.

I reckon that they're also so that people don't spend ages traipsing up a staircase and through attics, only to find the person they want isn't in.

Of course, you could always set your slider to cover both, and then you're in a quantum superposition, like schroedinger's cat, until the person knocks on the door
What are people talking about? :lolwut: I've never seen any slidey things in student accommodation here.
We usually have a sort of small pinboard outside our bedroom doors. I've always used mine to put up photos and things like newspaper clippings. I don't have one this year :frown: The price I pay for having my name hand painted on the stones of Old Court I suppose :p: I've still stuck the same bits and pieces to the door though. I've got the image in my avatar up with a caption saying 'postmodernism', I have that ironic photo of a huge crowd of protestors with a huge banner saying 'capitalism rocks' and waving signs like 'more people, less trees', 'more money for number one' etc etc, and finally the recent sketch of Peterhouse in Varsity, of our chapel surrounded by waves and the caption 'no college is an island'. (I'm trying to spread a bit of propaganda about to dissuade my college from choosing to disaffiliate come the 4th of November...)

We have things at the bottom of the staircases that have a list of every room number, next to the name of the current occupant and a slider that you can move to cover either 'OUT' or 'IN' to show your current status.

Queens' has them, Trinity Hall has them. I don't remember seeing them in Trinity, but I suppose I assumed everywhere had them.

Very random question: In German, the concept of being useful or good at loads of different things has a name, it's called the 'eierlegende Wollmilchsau', the egg-laying wool-milk-pig. I was wondering whether there was an English equivalent for this - 'Swiss army knife' comes close, but it's a lot less interesting and colourful expression...

In other news: I'm very likely doing an all-nighter tonight. Just 3 weeks into term  .

Oh I see. That sounds very useful were people to universally use them.

If you're talking about a person then perhaps 'jack of all trades'?

We have slidey things in our accommodation this year but no one ever uses them because we didn't have them last year so we're not used to it. Last year we had handpainted names at the bottom of the staircases and on our doors. This year I have a little board on my door that I can stick things to, so I stuck my name on that instead

Just written a fairly terrible essay and now have to type it up. It's still conclusionless though and the latter half is much shoddier than the first - I'll give my supervisor ten guesses as to what time I wrote it at :p: Still, doing better than last year - I'll actually finish this essay BEFORE the deadline which is a definite achievement.

Yeh, the same achievement this weekend may have been a first for me...

And you got a first last year... there's hope for me yet! Gosh, I want to sleep :frown: I'm not even home yet!

Would you like me to bring some chocolate or cake down?
edit: I even have bananas and oranges now, thinking about it.

Er, thanks.

I honestly have no idea how that happened, so I wouldn't read too much into it.

It's quite good, isn't it? I like it very much  .

Thanks for the translations by the way.

Aww, thank you  But I had a vending machine raid earlier and am currently munching Crispy M&Ms, having just pigged on Jaffa Cakes and a Toffee Crisp, so any more chocolate or cake will probably send me into a massive hyper overload like last night, when I had so much to keep myself awake that I couldn't sleep until half three.

I just typed 'reality' as 'relatify'. Goodness only knows what my fingers think they're doing.

I've already done 3. :p:
But now I'm resorting to early mornings - it seems to be more productive.
So night all.

I presume you're looking for the science education centre? If so it's down the road between Homerton and the education faculty (like right at the bottom) turn left into a car park and then it's on of the brown buildings on your left

Well not really, as that is a negative thing, whereas Y__ was talking about somebody being good at lots of things. Jack of all trades means that you are barely competent at lots of things (i.e. me).

It might be because I missed my lecture yesterday :frown:

Unless your DoS is stalking you or Education is managed very differently from everything else in the university then he won't know or care

Went to Morris tonight, was late due to unavoidable distractions but it didn't go very well :frown: My Galleys were crap and I kept on doing Morris stepping instead of Sherborne stepping.

Then went to the Virgin Smoker, which was very funny.

And tomorrow I will need to do an entire examples paper from scratch by 5. At least this is the one with the supervisor that doesn't really care how much you've done.
Finishedddd!!! Now, four minute cycle home, chapter of Spanish book, bed, sleep. Up in the morning and do it all over again, except with less time and less preparation. What a saga.
I have an essay due in at 8am and I've only just finished typing up my notes. I have lectures at 10am and noon tomorrow, plus a supervision at 1.30pm. I'm also going to a gig in the evening. It's coffee time, I think...

How about "all-rounder"? Or "renaissance man/woman", for that matter...
