ukebert, are you considering a change in tripos?

In theory yes, although at the moment none appeal. In all likelihood I shall remain with engineering until college force me to stop, which I don't think that they will (my DoS sent me a letter saying that I should be doing better, which is encouraging).

My results really were shocking though. I got 28% in structures :p:

How often does the self-employed Cambridge student get ratted-out for working during term? I'm set on working this year, which I managed last year to an extent ... I work from my laptop, however, which makes it easier. By way of note, if anybody needs any audio transcription done at a low, low price then, you know, just ask for a quote ...

What do you mean by audio transcription?

The transcription of audio (generally interviews, legal proceedings, medical records) from the spoken word into a typed format.

I can sublet anything, just watch.
Now that Wimbledon has finished, my holiday has become a lot more active. I've become something of a British Library whore to do reading for my Themes & Sources essay. I think I've set myself a pretty nifty question now and I'm really getting into it. Last week I also went to a friend's birthday party in Surrey and tomorrow my friend and I are going to watch a mutual friend (and Cantabrigian offer-holder!) play the lead role in a musical at her school. :yep: Plus I've finished two novels and I'm halfway through a third. Good shizz.

Missed Terry Eagleton because I didn't queue early enough and it filled up :frown:

He's booked to speak at the Cambridge Union this Michaelmas so you don't need to worry!

In other news, I got significantly below the average in all papers. This is a real nuisance and I'm not altogether sure what to do. I'm going to have to think seriously about this.

:hugs:

By the way, you were in one of my dreams last week. I can't remember anything else about it apart from the fact that it seemed to take place in Manhattan :s-smilie:

My body has absolutely no business being up this time of day :shifty:

Oh well. Lets hope for an effective resetting of the body clock!

The opposite is true for me. I tend to get so irrationally stressed out about who is going to win, no matter who the players are, with every match on TV that I probably walk miles every time I watch it pacing round the room. Now that it's finished, I'm just sitting around again! :p:

I've just realized I got negative rep for this post because it's 'not true'.

I don't care about rep but unless I'm going mad, surely it is.

I think I've gotten food poisoning or something. I was at the gym cycling when I suddenly had massive pain in my stomach and nearly fell off. I stopped immediately and tried to walk home. I had to stop about 10m after leaving the gym and lie on the grass outside some council housing for 5mins. And then I nearly fainted (I lost vision) when crossing the road to Parker's Piece, so I lay on the piece for another 15mins.

I was woken by the kind of construction work that shakes buildings apart. At 8:10 am.

I need to start my dissertation, but my material, located at the British Museum, is still too nebulous for analysis. I have no idea what it is, equally, no idea. I've been told it came from Kalat/Makran in Pakistan, at least.

It certainly is true. For mathematics anyway. But it's a NatSci thread, so...

Do you often get these sorts of problems? If so, seek medical advice....

In what? I have an offer from a chambers, but they are just a local set that I don't particularly want to go to, hence applying to more. I've had interviews at 6 different chambers in the past few weeks, and have two more next weekend, but this is the first one I've heard back from, and it's the one I really care about.

For some reason, that  face looks really accusatory to me!
