There's me, CannedDoor, Zoe and Mel. That makes 12 guests. Anymore may mean getting permission from the senior tutor unless we can drag in more Emma students.
There are a few others we could round up - decidedly less active since term started, but they might well be up for it. I can do a bit of asking around to find out.
I'm told it compares very favourably to other colleges. Certainly I had a wonderful scholars' dinner on Monday, but that's partly because we were being served high table food.
OH, also, *importantly*, does anyone want to go to IndieSoc's night at the Portland Arms on Nov 5th? I know it's bonfire night, but TWW will be playing again, & I know he has some fans around here...
I'd be interested - I haven't managed to see TWW perform in Cam yet.

Not really actually, you see it's education from an academic perspective, so far nothing I've learnt could be applied to the class room. I would agree that the majority will go into teaching but it's no different than any other arts degree that doesn't have a specific vocation
Fair enough. But to me Education -> Teacher is as logical as Law -> Lawyer.

How would people feel about a TSR Formal in Week 6? I'm thinking 14th of Nov or something...
The only bad thing is our formal night is tuesday I suppose you could arrange for a saturday though and hope for a power cut and stuff some candles in your bag.
The senior tutor says it's now too late for me to change subject as we're in the 4th week
I'm really annoyed as I contacted my tutor with the problem on Sunday and was told by him it would be fine, then my DOS yesterday said it might not be but other people have been changing. Would they really rather me change in 2nd year when exams count for more and I've missed a year of the course?

The university regulations are unfortunately vague, and seem to prioritize the decision of your college over the department to which you wish to change from/to. However, they do state that if it is in your educational interests to do so (i.e., not wanting to continue with your current subject), then 4 weeks or 8 weeks should make little difference. The concern may simply be whether or not you can catch up or not, though I find this to be a bit rich; some classics papers this year are not even starting teaching until the 7th week, and as such four weeks is not an impossibly large amount of work to make up. Have you tried playing the final card? That is, "I'll drop out if ..."
I had a supervision in a meeting room in King's library - it was absolutely amazing. Really grand, surrounded by old books and at a table which seated 15!

Yeah, Cambridge is extremely proud of its low drop-out rate and I expect there is little they won't do to prevent you leaving. I don't really understand their argument about 4 weeks being too long. Yes, you'll have a fair bit of work to catch up on -- but there's always the Christmas vacation. Besides, it's better that you gave Education a real chance and stuck it out for 3-4 weeks rather than deciding it wasn't for you after week one and quitting without really giving it a go.
Anyway, good luck with your meeting. Hopefully it will all be fine

As long as it isn't on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday or Friday then it'd be fine. Or possibly Monday or Saturday, depending. Sunday is normally OK.
If you think I will endeavour to remember any of that, you are sorely mistaken.

You know you could always come and do formal at Cai-

Guys, can we stop talking about matriculation and scholars' dinners when we speak about formal food! They have nothing to do with eachother! Create a seperate mental category for them.

Until January
Think as of yesterday I'm the only 17 year old at Caius, possibly one other.
Oh right. Which date is your birthday? Mine's the 15th.
