what was said about the letters?

Ah right. Basically someone or other said that they had got these things, there was general agreement from those that got them that they were unacceptable, the CUSU Welfare rep (who was present) got all interested and told people to come to her if they needed help with it and Joe promised to take it up to Dr P.

I think that it's a little early to know how to take this until the actual interviews have happened. If they are unpleasant then I'm spreading the word around  If not then I'll forward CUSU the email and leave it at that.

Can you or zoe do the formal booking when we have the numbers? :o: I just thought it'd look rather strange for a fresher to email saying they want to book 20 odd guests in.

I was actually very impressed with Tom Chigbo, he came across extremely well defending his position.

He's a really sound and genuinely nice guy. He was a helper with our Geography Sutton Trust visit last year, and he made the whole thing that bit better. I was really chuffed when he recognised my face at Downing's freshers fair. Really happy to see him as CUSU President.

Haha, sorry, enough Tom praise for one night.

Well, I've done an insane amount of notes for this sustainable development essay, which in a sense is good, but organising and converting them into an essay is going to be some task. :s-smilie:

Does anyone know if they have plug sockets in normal class on East Coast Mainline trains? I think it might be only business class that does...

Anyone watch Spooks? It was alright, but I must admit I was a little disappointed. Some of the dialogue was a little cringeworthy really, but I don't remember it being that bad. Strange. I love Ruth though, she's great.

I'm fairly certain Mathematics with Computer Science was discontinued after 2007/8 - in my year, the only option was Computer Science with Mathematics. I do, however, know a third year who did Mathematics with Computer Science in his first year.

Whichever way around it is :o:

Computer Science with Maths - Definitely. I'm a failed one :o: and nuodai was one (before he changed to Maths only?)

Urgh, supervisor wants our work to be photocopied and submitted.

Which is annoying because obviously I don't have a photocopier and it'll be a hassle, and will cost money to get it done.

Stratocaster
something about spooks

Yes, it was a bit rubbish - but I think I must've missed quite a bit of the last season. Never liked Ruth either.
I'm also a failed applicant for CompSci w/ Maths, although I'm incredibly content with that failure.

I'm assuming that's not supervision work? None of mine even want us to hand it in.

No it is supervision work, but you're right that it isn't the norm to hand it in anymore (in any of the other options it seems). Although 2 weeks ago the supervisor (same course - Soft Matter - but different supervisor) collected it in the supervision and hasn't given it back yet.

I spent the ENTIRE day in the library writing this bloody essay!!! :motz:

Its the first for 'Advanced Social Theory'. They just introduced the course and started out by saying that we wouldn't be able to just get by regurgitating readings, but would have to develop our own theories. Well - they were right. I could have mindlessly repeated the arguments in the texts I read, but I vehemently disagreed with all of them. Unfortunately this meant I had to read alot of stuff over and above it to help me articulate my side of things, and the essay took about 12hrs to write

PAIN!!!! :bawling:

You make that sound like it seemed a good idea at first :P . I've always wanted to try that 28-hour-day scheme that xkcd once proposed, though.

It becomes peculiar when you normalize it, like today when I was getting ready for bed at around 2 pm ... I am now awake, and not sure if I should be hungry, thirsty, ...

I believe that Vonnegut is a poor imitation of Spenser and that Spenser is a sexy bastard that I want to marry.

Oh, and Aqua (Barbie Girl) FTW!
:woo:
I suggest to temp ban Fleurvert for tonight, as uh... she's obviously not herself lately.
A presentation as supervision work. :hmmm:

Wow, I've heard of Peterhouse's...difficulties in dealing with students, but this is full-on aggressive.

Cindies was great tonight... though tomorrow morning when I am up for my 9am lecture it might not seem such a good idea. Ah well
