Urgh, 'porno couple' are really going for it tonight... again. They did this last night as well, while I was skyping my parents - awkward.

I think you need to start leaving a post it on there door scoring their performance everytime they do this (and possibly leaving helpful tips as to how they can improve). Hopefully you can embarass them into being quieter. Alternatively- a college wide email expressing a feeling that people should consider the effect that noise they make has on others, even when they're having 'fun' Public embarassment is to the key :yep: :p:

having to catch up on work

You're certainly not the first person whose been denied a subject change, I'm afraid.

Did they mention any deal like 'if you get X in your first year exams then you can change'? I've heard that happens a lot. The colleges basically ask people to prove that they're really good so that they think they will cope with the change. I know someone who has to get a first! How much pressure is that! Means that they have to continue with the original subject for a year and excel at it.

It is true that you would have a lot of pressure if you changed subjects. Weeks are already so intensive at Cambridge that trying to do the normal work and catch up with everything would be pretty much impossible. I'm not sure I'd like to try it. And you can't always say that you'll just leave it until the vacation to catch up because there will be concepts and terminology in the lectures etc that everyone else will understand but you may not.

Have you been doing as much reading in Theology as a Theology applicant would have done?

Are we allowed to :eek3: talk :eek3: to the principal of our college?

It's highly unlikely you'd get an audience with the Master/Principal/President of your college - at best, you'd go through his secretary, and even then he probably would stay well out of anything like this.

Yeah I found out I couldn't do it as it clashed with my preparing for patients supervision. Otherwise why not?

PfP supervision?!

Any PfP B peeps about? I'm facilitation more sessions for you lot in January

Can I join you for that?

It seems it clashes with a supervision and practical class so I cannot go. But really, try meeting other people. There is no way everyone is sitting in... try the drinking society at your college
Ouch, split lip.

Yeah, we have a PfP supervision for some reason we have to arrange with a doctor. I think it is to discuss our experiences and how to write the essay we have to hand in at the end.

Maybe it is just my college that does this though?

Ah, I remembe. I think it's just your college. Your college has one of the most awesome GP-type-tutor-fellow (?) ever. You might see him around the anatomy department at times, and at the PfP lecture(s) if he's still around.

Yeah he did seem really cool at our matriculation dinner. Not just that but he emails us every week with a story about how what we are learning can be applied to clinical medicine, which is nice.

He is also an examiner for the PfP course, which must help us when we go to write our essays if he has given us hints during supervision.

Just a word of advice - it's always a good idea to avoid mentioning names of supervisors/fellows on here, as (a) it makes you a lot easier to be found out, (b) they may not appreciate being mentioned online, however positive it may be, (c) you may slip up and say something not so nice, which if someone important at college sees, you could live to regret.

An initial is a good idea - if not, keeping it to PMs is best!

Yeh, I think I'll find the same. If you want, I can buy you a formal ticket at £5.35 for that evening so that you don't have to go through the society.

Thanks! I'll let you know what the result is - I haven't gotten a reply to my disgruntled email yet, so we shall see.
