Ack, new project involves stats! I haven't had dealing with stats since AS level 6 years ago. So far its just basic probability, standard dev. and volatility/ variance.

But its bound to get harder... I just hope they don't expect me to have too much to do with that side of the project!
Just had my hearing  Didn't go too badly. I had a fair idea of what they might ask so could answer pretty well off pat. Interesting juxtaposition between Dr B, who is happy, bouncy and primary-school-teacher-like and Dr P who, erm, isn't :p:

Excellent! Are there to be any repercussions, or is that it?

My old school is never getting any of my money! Not after the way they failed to acknowledge (let alone to anything about) the fact that my two sisters and I were all badly bullied :frown:

That's rubbish :frown: My school was private (I don't know if yours was, or whether it would have made any difference), but I get the feeling my old one had a vested interest in keeping every single one of its cash cows, oh erm, I mean pupils :p: There wasn't much bullying, but when it did occur, the school came down on it pretty hard.

I don't know which college you're at but the 2 single sex ones did seem to generally care about students (along with other colleges before people criticise me)-none offered my subject though :frown:

Bummer :/ I'm at the one right next to Sidgewick, so I can't speak for the hilly one...

Merciiii  Didn't see you today after all! I dragged my hungover self up to Sidgwick at 10:50 to hand in the absinthe essay, then dragged same self back to bed, which may explain that. Did you go to 4pm?

I went in, flicked through handout, had a quick chat with a friend, and left.

It was the one next to Sidgewick I wanted to apply to (my friend did for engineering but got rejected )

I missed the whole Purcell Festival at Fitz

Awkward presentation work for supervisions... I thought this was going to be easier than essays.

I missed a recital at Trinity yesterday which I forgot about :frown:

I'm about to try some avocado for the first time :woo:
Right, one of my mates is organising a Downing Open Mic night on Monday 23rd November. If there's anyone who'd like to perform (after seeing some of the TSR-ian talent at the Clare one, I know we'd be honoured to have you here), please quote me or PM me!

For anyone else, please put the date in your diaries! I'd love to see some TSR people along, and you're welcome for post-entertainment drinks at my place.

Right, I MUST start this reading on geofeminism. I don't even know what it bloody is.
I'm watching the ITV 'Oxbridge' drama Trinity. It's so bad, it's hilarious - it's completely perpetuating every Oxbridge stereotype.

Although it does have the porters serving wine at what appears to be their matriculation dinner :lolwut:

Things will soon turn creepy :ninja:

...and so unrealistic you'll forget it's even supposed to be "oxbridge-based"!

:awesome: the best thing is they called the "university" Bridgeford - they're not hiding their agenda, are they?

I got dragged along to watch the final episode last night - we decided that the writers must have realised they had no chance of tying up any of the plot lines and so instead just went for broke inventing completely new ones...

Why?

(I've just been trying to think of any way in which it could possibly be considered so, and failing. "Not something I want to do" I could understand (since you don't like the way the college is run much) but why/how "unethical"? I'm puzzled and curious :p:

Best guess is either you think higher ed should be properly state funded so donating privately is upholding the current unethical system, or that you don't agree with the college investment policies (arms, etc?) and wouldn't want your money used like that. But neither seem entirely plausible.)

No its not really about that. Its about 'if I have x amount of disposable income, what is the most ethical way to spend it?', and there are several ethical/moral frameworks which put a good case in for investing it where it is likely to increase happiness or well being by the greatest margin.

So I would personally give everything to Oxfam and nothing to anything that's specific to England because I rank the experiences of people living in developing countries as so much more impoverished than here.

Hahah. If I was to give to Peterhouse, I can just see myself leaving money only to be used for the installment of a state of the art security system in the library, allowing it to turn 24hr while still housing all their prized works and books

The two boys on my staircase are still using my cutlery and not washing it and just leaving it by the sink, even though I put a note up on the fridge with their names asking them not to do it :hmpf:

I'm wondering whether to take the whole cutlery selection and store it in my room instead. (room is next door to kitchen)

Have just had the most incomprehensible and boring lecture EVER.

I hate that man so much, but you might have gathered that!

I should do some work, but I want to watch Trinity and University Challenge :frown:

My Mamar and Papie aren't answering any of their phones, this makes me concerned

I keep everything cooking-related in my room apart from food that needs to be fridged.

Although I do appear to be living on a corridor with some kind of kleptomaniac...
