I've lost count of the number of essays that have been returned with 'needs some law' or a similar sentiment on them..

yes, in a similar vein, i've have crits on design work, where the tutor says "yes, but where's the Architecture?"

Not looking forward to my supervision in an hour's time... Mainly because my essay was possibly the worst thing I've ever written (done between 4 and 8 this morning...). Oh well.

Oh, and er... Hello

Programme for the Emma chapel, see my text message.

I just wrote a whole message and am now mad as the computer kindly wiped it all.

Anyway, my point was I want to get involved in activities more than anything-most of the time I physically can't. I don't want to just sit in my room all day everyday getting nowhere which is why I'm considering leaving.

I don't think it would be different at another university but I do think another college could have made a big difference. I haven't been able to get to church since I started here-if I was at a college with a chapel that was open all the time with regular services and other activities plus a chaplain to talk to then I might have started going to services or just sitting in there for a change-I would have felt safe, built up my confidence and I would have been involved in something. There's nothing like that here and that's the one thing I need. Sad as it sounds.

In that case maybe you can talk to your senior tutor about moving college. A guy in my year with certain autistic spectrum difficulties moved to cauis from king's at christmas last year because he struggled with the large number of tourists moving through king's each day (as i said on another thread we get 10 times more than anyone else). If you're in the centre of town you may find it easier to get out more, find a church and participate in societies and other extracurriculars. I strongly feel cambridge gives you as much in terms of the facilities, activities and opportunities it offers as it does through its academic teaching. I totally agree with craggy cambridge seems like its much more likely to be a good fit for you than anywhere else you just need to find your place, which may well not be at homerton :console:
Two weeks after my meeting with the senior tutor a letter has miraculously appeared giving me the opportunity to degrade. I'm still wondering whether to talk about the possibility of changing college if I come back next year but I don't wantt to get on the wrong side of anyone :s-smilie:

Alex (as you might have guessed), nice to meet you. And I see what you did with your username. :yep: Finally, good luck with your supervision; it probably won't be as bad as you think. :nah:

I hope I'm wrong, but I am pretty sure that they'll ask you to re-apply if you want to come back and study at a different college.
Getting out and riding today was a seriously good idea .

How did only just wake up? Equally, I feel shattered but I still have the Exploration Society talk this evening. I booked the room so I have to be there ...

Exploration Society?

Today has been a disaster. I woke up just before my lab, got there on time, got through it somehow, went to lectures, slept through lectures, came back, decided to have a power nap, turned alarm off and slept for over 2 hours. Got woken up by a phone call from a CUCB friend who wanted to come round and play tunes. Did that and now I've just realised that it's nearly Hall, I'm going out this evening, I have two examples papers that I haven't started in for tomorrow and I am STILL absolutely shattered.

After a very sleepless night I think I've made the decision to leave. Whether they allow me to degrade or not is up to them but I don't think I can carry on here at the moment. It just seems pointless to carry on with this when I know I'm not putting in the work I should or enjoying experiences as I should :frown:

Oh no...That's really sad. :frown: It's good that they've allowed you the option of degrading, but for you to leave would still be really awful

I think I'd like to come down to Homerton as well. I haven't even met you yet! :p: Nor have I even been south of my college actually, I think. Should we be planning a meet down there, or would this be better as a PM job?

Exploration Society?

Ahem. I meant Expedition society.
Everyone should come to Homerton (via PM though to avoid trolls). I might be going home on Friday though...

Mel-I will respond to your text when my mother gets off the phone :p:

I had never heard of them. That sounds awesome

I'm not really involved in the society, only helping one of the members to find a room for a meeting tonight at Caius. It does, however, sound pretty interesting, so I may end up joining after tonight.

I have a research meeting at the British Museum tomorrow. I have no idea how it's going to go; I have to be as lucid and convincing as possible so that they'll let me play around with some materials, and burn them with an argon-plasma torch :ninja:

Whoever said that Trinity was shockingly bad was totally right... it's a horrific mix of hyperbole, stereotypes & bad acting :/

Oh, yeah, & I can't stop watching :frown:
